Jó 21

1Porém Jó respondeu, dizendo:

1But Job answered and said,

2Ouvi atentamente minhas palavras, e seja isto vossas consolações.

2Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.

3Suportai-me, e eu falarei; e depois de eu ter falado, então zombai.

3Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

4Por acaso eu me queixo de algum ser humano? Porém ainda que assim fosse, por que meu espírito não se angustiaria?

4As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5Olhai-me, e espantai-vos; e ponde a mão sobre a boca.

5Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6Pois quando eu me lembro disto, me assombro, e minha carne é tomada de tremor.

6Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.

7Por que razão os perversos vivem, envelhecem, e ainda crescem em poder?

7Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?

8Seus filhos progridem com eles diante de seus rostos; e seus descendentes diante de seus olhos.

8Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.

9Suas casas têm paz, sem temor, e a vara de Deus não está contra eles.

9Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.

10Seus touros procriam, e não falham; suas vacas geram filhotes, e não abortam.

10Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.

11Suas crianças saem como um rebanho, e seus filhos saem dançando.

11They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.

12Levantam a voz ao som de tamboril e de harpa e se alegram ao som de flauta.

12They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13Em prosperidade gastam seus dias, e em um momento descem ao Xeol.

13They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.

14Assim dizem a Deus: Afasta-te de nós, porque não queremos conhecer teus caminhos.

14Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.

15Quem é o Todo-Poderoso, para que o sirvamos? E de que nos aproveitará que oremos a ele?

15What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?

16Eis que sua prosperidade não se deve às mãos deles. Longe de mim esteja o conselho dos perversos!

16Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17Quantas vezes sucede que a lâmpada dos perversos se apaga, e sua perdição vem sobre eles, e Deus em sua ira lhes reparte dores?

17How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.

18Eles serão como palha diante do vento, como o restos de palha que o turbilhão arrebata.

18They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.

19Vós dizeis: Deus guarda sua violência para seus filhos. Que Deus pague ao próprio perverso, para que o conheça.

19God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.

20Seus olhos vejam sua ruína, e beba da ira do Todo-Poderoso.

20His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21Pois que interesse teria ele em sua casa depois de si, quando o número for cortado o número de seus meses?

21For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

22Poderia alguém ensinar conhecimento a Deus, que julga até os que estão no alto?

22Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

23Alguém morre na sua força plena, estando todo tranquilo e próspero,

23One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

24Seus baldes estando cheios de leite, e o tutano de seus ossos umedecido.

24His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25Porém outro morre com amargura de alma, nunca tendo experimentado a prosperidade.

25And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.

26Juntamente jazem no pó, e os vermes os cobrem.

26They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27Eis que eu sei vossos pensamentos, e os mais intentos que planejais contra mim.

27Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

28Porque dizeis: Onde está a casa do príncipe?, e: Onde está tenda das moradas dos perversos?

28For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?

29Por acaso não perguntastes aos que passam pelo caminho, e não conheceis seus sinais?

29Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,

30Que os maus são preservados no dia da destruição, e são livrados no dia das fúrias?

30That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31Quem lhe denunciará seu caminho em sua face? E quem lhe pagará pelo que ele fez?

31Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?

32Finalmente ele é levado à sepultura, e no túmulo fazem vigilância.

32Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.

33Os torrões do vale lhe são doces; e todos o seguem; e adiante dele estão inúmeros.

33The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

34Como, pois, me consolais em vão, já que vossas em vossas respostas só resta falsidade?

34How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?
