Jó 35

1Eliú respondeu mais, dizendo:

1Elihu spake moreover, and said,

2Pensas tu ser direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus?

2Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

3Porque disseste: Para que ela te serve? Ou: Que proveito terei dela mais que meu pecado?

3For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

4Eu darei reposta a ti, e a teus amigos contigo.

4I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

5Olha para os céus, e vê; e observa as nuvens, que são mais altas que tu.

5Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

6Se tu pecares, que mal farás contra ele? Se tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que mal lhe farás?

6If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

7Se fores justo, que lhe darás? Ou o que ele receberá de tua mão?

7If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

8Tua perversidade poderia afetar a outro homem como tu; e tua justiça poderia ser proveitosa a algum filho do homem.

8Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

9Os aflitos clamam por causa da grande opressão; eles gritam por causa do poder dos grandes.

9By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

10Porém ninguém diz: Onde está Deus, meu Criador, que dá canções na noite,

10But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

11Que nos ensina mais que aos animais da terra, e nos faz sábios mais que as aves do céu?

11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

12Ali clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância dos maus.

12There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13Certamente Deus não ouvirá a súplica vazia, nem o Todo-Poderoso dará atenção a ela.

13Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

14Quanto menos ao que disseste: que tu não o vês! Porém o juízo está diante dele; portanto espera nele.

14Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

15Mas agora, já que a ira dele ainda não está castigando, e ele não deu completa atenção à arrogância,

15But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

16Por isso Jó abriu sua boca em vão, e multiplicou palavras sem conhecimento.

16Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
