1E no dia seguinte, no quarto dia da semana, trouxeram-No à hora nona para o átrio de Caifás.

1And on the following day, the fourth day of the week, they brought Him at the ninth hour into the hall of Caiaphas.

2E Anás e Caifás disseram-Lhe: Dize-nos, por que roubaste a nossa lei e renunciaste aos mandamentos de Moisés e dos profetas?

2And Annas and Caiaphas say to Him: Tell us, why hast thou stolen our law, and renounced the ordinances of Moses and the prophets?

3E Jesus nada respondeu.

3And Jesus answered nothing.

4E de novo, pela segunda vez, estando também presente a multidão, disseram-Lhe: O santuário que Salomão construiu em quarenta e seis anos, por que queres destruí-lo num só momento?

4And again a second time, the multitude also being present, they say to Him: The sanctuary which Solomon built in forty and six years, why dost thou wish to destroy in one moment?

5E a essas acusações Jesus nada respondeu.

5And to these things Jesus answered nothing.

6Pois o santuário da sinagoga havia sido despojado pelo salteador.

6For the sanctuary of the synagogue had been plundered by the robber.

7E tendo terminado a tarde do quarto dia, toda a multidão procurava queimar a filha de Caifás por causa da perda da lei, visto que não sabiam como haveriam de celebrar a páscoa.

7And the evening of the fourth day being ended, all the multitude sought to burn the daughter of Caiaphas, on account of the loss of the law; for they did not know how they were to keep the passover.

8E ela lhes disse: Esperai, meus filhos, e destruamos este Jesus, e a lei será encontrada, e a santa festa será plenamente cumprida.

8And she said to them: Wait, my children, and let us destroy this Jesus, and the law will be found, and the holy feast will be fully accomplished.

9E secretamente Anás e Caifás deram considerável quantia de dinheiro a Judas Iscariotes, dizendo: Dize como nos disseste antes: Sei que a lei foi roubada por Jesus, para que a acusação recaia sobre ele, e não sobre esta donzela, que está isenta de culpa.

9And secretly Annas and Caiaphas gave considerable money to Judas Iscariot, saying: Say as thou saidst to us before, I know that the law has been stolen by Jesus, that the accusation may be turned against him, and not against this maiden, who is free from blame.

10E Judas, tendo recebido esta instrução, disse-lhes: Não saiba toda a multidão que fui por vós instruído a fazer isto contra Jesus; mas soltai a Jesus, e eu persuadirei a multidão de que assim foi.

10And Judas having received this command, said to them: Let not all the multitude know that I have been instructed by you to do this against Jesus; but release Jesus, and I persuade the multitude that it is so.

11E astutamente soltaram a Jesus.

11And craftily they released Jesus.

12E Judas, entrando no santuário ao romper da aurora do quinto dia, disse a todo o povo: Que me dareis, e eu vos entregarei o subversor da lei e o despojador dos profetas?

12And Judas, going into the sanctuary at the dawn of the fifth day, says to all the people: What will you give me, and I will give up to you the overthrower of the law, and the plunderer of the prophets?

13Os judeus disseram-lhe: Se no-lo entregares, dar-te-emos trinta moedas de ouro.

13The Jews say to him: If thou wilt give him up to us, we will give thee thirty pieces of gold.

14E o povo não sabia que Judas estava falando acerca de Jesus, pois muitos deles confessavam que Ele era o Filho de Deus.

14And the people did not know that Judas was speaking about Jesus, for many of them confessed that he was the Son of God.

15E Judas recebeu as trinta moedas de ouro.

15And Judas received the thirty pieces of gold.

16E saindo à quarta hora, e à quinta, encontrou Jesus caminhando pela rua.

16And going out at the fourth hour, and at the fifth, he finds Jesus walking in the street.

17E ao cair da tarde, Judas disse aos judeus: Dai-me o auxílio de soldados com espadas e varapaus, e eu vo-lo entregarei.

17And as evening was coming on, Judas says to the Jews: Give me the aid of soldiers with swords and staves, and I will give him up to you.

18Deram-lhe, pois, guardas a fim de O prenderem.

18They therefore gave him officers for the purpose of seizing Him.

19E enquanto iam a caminho, Judas lhes disse: Prendei o homem a quem eu beijar, pois ele roubou a lei e os profetas.

19And as they were going along, Judas says to them: Lay hold of the man whom I shall kiss, for he has stolen the law and the prophets.

20Aproximando-se, pois, de Jesus, beijou-O, dizendo: Salve, Rabi! sendo a tarde do quinto dia.

20Going up to Jesus, therefore, he kissed Him, saying: Hail, Rabbi! it being the evening of the fifth day.

21E tendo-O prendido, entregaram-No a Caifás e aos principais sacerdotes, dizendo Judas: Este é aquele que roubou a lei e os profetas.

21And having laid hold of Him, they gave Him up to Caiaphas and the chief priests, Judas saying: This is he who stole the law and the prophets.

22E os judeus submeteram Jesus a um julgamento injusto, dizendo: Por que fizeste estas coisas?

22And the Jews gave Jesus an unjust trial, saying: Why hast thou done these things?

23E Ele nada respondeu.

23And he answered nothing.

24E Nicodemos e eu, José, vendo a cadeira dos pestilentos, afastamo-nos deles, não querendo perecer juntamente com o conselho dos ímpios.

24And Nicodemus and I Joseph, seeing the seat of the plagues, stood off from them, not wishing to perish along with the counsel of the ungodly.
