Mateus 16

1Então os fariseus e os saduceus se aproximaram dele e, a fim de tentá-lo, pediram-lhe que lhes mostrasse algum sinal do céu.

1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2Mas ele lhes respondeu: Quando chega a tarde, dizeis: “ Haverá tempo bom, pois o céu está vermelho”.

2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3E pela manhã: “Hoje haverá tempestade, pois o céu está de um vermelho sombrio”. Hipócritas! Vós bem sabeis distinguir a aparência do céu, mas os sinais dos tempos não podeis?

3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4Uma geração má e adúltera pede um sinal; mas nenhum sinal lhe será dado, a não ser o sinal do profeta Jonas. Então os deixou, e foi embora.

4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5E quando os seus discípulos vieram para a outra margem, esqueceram-se de tomar pão.

5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6E Jesus lhes disse: Ficai atentos, e tende cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e saduceus.

6Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7E eles argumentaram entre si, dizendo: É porque não tomamos pão.

7And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8Jesus percebeu, e disse-lhes: Por que estais argumentando entre vós mesmos, ó homens de pouca fé, que não tomastes pão?

8Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9Ainda não entendeis, nem vos lembrais dos cinco pães dos cinco mil, e quantos cestos levantastes?

9Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10Nem dos sete pães dos quatro mil, e quantos cestos levantastes?

10Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11Como não entendeis que não foi pelo pão que eu vos disse para tomardes cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e saduceus?

11How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12Então entenderam que ele não havia dito que tomassem cuidado com o fermento de pão, mas sim, com a doutrina dos fariseus e saduceus.

12Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13E tendo Jesus vindo às partes da Cesareia de Filipe, perguntou aos seus discípulos: Quem as pessoas dizem que eu, o Filho do homem, sou?

13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14E eles responderam: Alguns João Batista, outros Elias, e outros Jeremias ou algum dos profetas.

14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15Ele lhes disse: E vós, quem dizeis que eu sou?

15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16E Simão Pedro respondeu: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo!

16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17E Jesus lhe replicou: Bendito és tu, Simão, filho de Jonas; pois não foi carne e sangue que o revelou a ti, mas sim meu Pai, que está nos céus.

17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18E eu também te digo que tu és Pedro, e sobre esta pedra edificarei a minha igreja; e as portas do Xeol não prevalecerão contra ela.

18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19E a ti darei as chaves do Reino dos céus; e tudo o que ligares na terra terá sido ligado nos céus; e tudo o que desligares na terra terá sido desligado nos céus.

19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20Então mandou aos seus discípulos que a ninguém dissessem que ele era Jesus, o Cristo.

20Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21Desde então Jesus começou a mostrar a seus discípulos que ele tinha que ir a Jerusalém, e sofrer muito pelos anciãos, pelos chefes dos sacerdotes, e pelos escribas, e ser morto, e ser ressuscitado ao terceiro dia.

21From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22E Pedro o tomou à parte, e começou a repreendê-lo, dizendo: Misericórdia de ti, Senhor! De maneira nenhuma isso te aconteça.

22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23Mas ele se virou, e disse a Pedro: Para trás de mim, Satanás! Tu és um meio de tropeço, porque não compreendes as coisas de Deus, mas sim as humanas.

23But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

24Então Jesus disse a seus discípulos: Se alguém quiser vir após mim, negue-se a si mesmo, tome sobre si a sua cruz, e siga-me.

24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25Pois qualquer um que quiser salvar a sua vida a perderá; porém qualquer um que por causa de mim perder a sua vida, este a achará.

25For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26Pois que proveito há para alguém, se ganhar o mundo todo, mas perder a sua alma? Ou que dará alguém em resgate da sua alma?

26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27Pois o Filho do homem virá na glória do seu Pai com os seus anjos, e então recompensará a cada um segundo as suas obras.

27For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28Em verdade vos digo, que há alguns, dos que aqui estão, que não experimentarão a morte, até que vejam o Filho do homem vir em seu Reino.

28Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
