Números 13

1E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2“Envia homens que reconheçam a terra de Canaã, a qual eu dou aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, cada um líder entre eles.”

2Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

3E Moisés os enviou desde o deserto de Parã, conforme a palavra do SENHOR; e todos aqueles homens eram líderes dos filhos de Israel.

3And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.

4Os nomes dos quais são estes: da tribo de Rúben, Samua, filho de Zacur.

4And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5Da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori.

5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6Da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné.

6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7Da tribo de Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José.

7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8Da tribo de Efraim, Oseias, filho de Num.

8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.

9Da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu.

9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10Da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi.

10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11Da tribo de José: pela tribo de Manassés, Gadi, filho de Susi.

11Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12Da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali.

12Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13Da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael.

13Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14Da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi.

14Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15Da tribo de Gade, Guel, filho de Maqui.

15Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou para reconhecer a terra; e a Oseias, filho de Num, Moisés lhe pôs o nome de Josué.

16These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.

17Então Moisés os enviou para reconhecer a terra de Canaã, dizendo-lhes: “Subi por aqui, pelo sul, e subi ao monte:

17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

18e observai a terra que tal é; e o povo que a habita, se é forte ou débil, se pouco ou numeroso;

18And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19qual é a terra habitada, se é boa ou má; e quais são as cidades habitadas, se de tendas ou de fortalezas;

19And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20e qual é o terreno, se é fértil ou fraco, se nele há ou não árvores; esforçai-vos, e colhei do fruto daquela terra.” E o tempo era o tempo das primeiras uvas.

20And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21E eles subiram, e reconheceram a terra desde o deserto de Zim até Reobe, entrando em Hamate.

21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22E subiram pelo sul, e vieram até Hebrom: e ali estavam Aimã, e Sesai, e Talmai, filhos de Anaque. Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã, a do Egito.

22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23E chegaram até o ribeiro de Escol, e dali cortaram um ramo com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois em uma vara, e das romãs e dos figos.

23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24E chamou-se aquele lugar vale de Escol pelo cacho que cortaram dali os filhos de Israel.

24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

25E voltaram de reconhecer a terra ao fim de quarenta dias.

25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26E andaram e vieram a Moisés e a Arão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, no deserto de Parã, em Cades, e deram-lhes a resposta, e a toda a congregação, e lhes mostraram o fruto da terra.

26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

27E lhe contaram, e disseram: Nós chegamos à terra à qual nos enviaste, a que certamente flui leite e mel; e este é o fruto dela.

27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28Mas o povo que habita aquela terra é forte, e as cidades muito grandes e fortes; e também vimos ali os filhos de Anaque.

28Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29Amaleque habita a terra do sul; e os heteus, e os jebuseus, e os amorreus, habitam no monte; e os cananeus habitam junto ao mar, e à beira do Jordão.

29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30Então Calebe fez calar o povo diante de Moisés, e disse: Subamos logo, e passemos a ela; que mais poderemos que ela.

30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31Mas os homens que subiram com ele, disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo; porque é mais forte que nós.

31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32E falaram mal entre os filhos de Israel da terra que haviam reconhecido, dizendo: A terra por de onde passamos para reconhecê-la, é terra que consome a seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos em meio dela, são homens de grande estatura.

32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33Também vimos ali gigantes, filhos de Anaque, raça dos gigantes: e éramos nós, à nossa aparência, como gafanhotos; e assim lhes parecíamos a eles.

33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
