Odes de Salomão 28

1Como as asas das pombas sobre os seus filhotes, E as bocas dos seus filhotes voltadas para as suas bocas; Assim também são as asas do Espírito sobre o meu coração.

1As the wings of doves over their nestlings, And the mouths of their nestlings towards their mouths; So also are the wings of the Spirit over my heart.

2O meu coração se deleita e salta, Como a criancinha que salta no ventre da sua mãe:

2My heart is delighted and leaps up, Like the babe who leaps up in the womb of his mother:

3Eu cri; por isso descansei: Pois fiel é aquele em quem cri.

3I believed; therefore I was at rest: For faithful is He in whom I have believed.

4Ele me abençoou ricamente, E a minha cabeça está com ele. E a espada não me separará dele, Nem o alfanje.

4He has richly blessed me, And my head is with Him. And the sword shall not divide me from Him, Nor the scimitar.

5Pois eu estava pronto antes que viesse a destruição; E fui posto sobre as suas asas imortais;

5For I was ready before destruction came; And I have been set on His immortal pinions;

6E a vida imortal me abraçou E me beijou.

6And deathless life embraced me And kissed me.

7E dessa (vida) é o Espírito que está em mim; E ele não pode morrer, pois vive.

7And from that (life) is the Spirit within me; And it cannot die, for it lives.

8Os que me viram se maravilharam de mim, Porque fui perseguido;

8They who saw me marvelled at me, Because I was persecuted;

9E supuseram que eu fora engolido; Pois lhes pareci como um dos perdidos.

9And they supposed that I was swallowed up; For I seemed to them as one of the lost.

10Mas a minha opressão Tornou-se a minha salvação.

10But my oppression Became my salvation.

11E fui o seu escárnio; Porque não havia ira em mim.

11And I was their scorn; Because there was no wrath in me.

12Porque fiz bem a todo homem Fui odiado;

12Because I did good to every man I was hated;

13E cercaram-me como cães raivosos; Que atacam ignorantemente os seus donos.

13And they came round me like mad dogs; Who ignorantly attack their masters.

14Pois o seu pensamento é corrupto E o seu entendimento perverso.

14For their thought is corrupt And their understanding perverted.

15Mas eu levava água na minha mão direita, E a sua amargura suportei pela minha doçura.

15But I was carrying water in my right hand, And their bitterness I endured by my sweetness.

16E não pereci, pois não era irmão deles, Nem o meu nascimento era como o deles.

16And I did not perish, for I was not their brother, Nor was my birth like theirs.

17E procuraram a minha morte e não puderam (realizá-la); Pois eu era mais velho que a memória deles; E em vão lançaram sortes contra mim.

17And they sought for my death and could not (accomplish it); For I was older than the memorial of them; And vainly did they cast lots against me.

18E os que vieram depois de mim Procuraram sem causa destruir a memória daquele que existia antes deles.

18And those who came after me Sought without cause to destroy the memorial of him who was before them.

19Pois o pensamento do Altíssimo não pode ser antecipado; E o seu coração é superior a toda sabedoria. Aleluia.

19For the thought of the Most High cannot be anticipated; And His heart is superior to all wisdom. Hallelujah.
