1Tomando ensejo de Papias de Hierápolis, o ilustre, discípulo do apóstolo que se reclinou sobre o peito de Cristo, e de Clemente, e de Panteno, sacerdote da igreja dos alexandrinos, e do sábio Amônio, os antigos e primeiros expositores, que concordavam entre si, que compreenderam a obra dos seis dias como referindo-se a Cristo e a toda a Igreja.

1Taking occasion from Papias of Hierapolis, the illustrious, a disciple of the apostle who leaned on the bosom of Christ, and Clemens, and Pantænus the priest of [the Church] of the Alexandrians, and the wise Ammonius, the ancient and first expositors, who agreed with each other, who understood the work of the six days as referring to Christ and the whole Church.
