1Depois que escrevi completamente este livro, aquele mensageiro que me entregara ao Pastor veio à casa em que eu estava e sentou-se num leito, e o Pastor ficou de pé à sua direita. Chamou-me, então, e falou-me como segue: “Entreguei-te e à tua casa ao Pastor, para que sejas protegido por ele.” “Sim, senhor,” disse eu.

1After I had fully written down this book, that messenger who had delivered me to the Shepherd came into the house in which I was, and sat down upon a couch, and the Shepherd stood on his right hand. He then called me, and spoke to me as follows: “I have delivered you and your house to the Shepherd, that you may be protected by him.” “Yes, sir,” I said.

2“Se desejas, portanto, ser protegido,” disse, “de todo incômodo e de todo tratamento áspero e ter êxito em toda boa obra e palavra e possuir todas as virtudes da justiça, anda nestes mandamentos que ele te deu, e poderás submeter toda a maldade. Pois se guardares aqueles mandamentos, todo desejo e prazer do mundo te será sujeito, e o êxito te acompanhará em toda boa obra.

2“If you wish, therefore, to be protected,” he said, “from all annoyance, and from all harsh treatment, and to have success in every good work and word, and to possess all the virtues of righteousness, walk in these commandments which he has given you, and you will be able to subdue all wickedness. For if you keep those commandments, every desire and pleasure of the world will be subject to you, and success will attend you in every good work.

3Toma para ti a sua experiência e moderação e dize a todos que ele está em grande honra e dignidade junto a Deus e que é um presidente com grande poder e poderoso no seu ofício. Só a ele em todo o mundo foi designado o poder do arrependimento. Parece-te ele poderoso? Mas desprezas a sua experiência e a moderação que exerce para contigo.”

3Take unto yourself his experience and moderation, and say to all that he is in great honour and dignity with God, and that he is a president with great power, and mighty in his office. To him alone throughout the whole world is the power of repentance assigned. Does he seem to you to be powerful? But you despise his experience, and the moderation which he exercises towards you.”
