Pastor de Hermas 20

1“Ora, na segunda visão viste-a de pé, com semblante jovem e mais alegre do que antes; contudo tinha a pele e o cabelo de mulher idosa. Ouve,” disse ele, “também esta parábola. Quando alguém se torna um tanto velho, desespera de si mesmo por causa da sua fraqueza e pobreza, e nada espera senão o último dia da sua vida. Então, de repente, lhe é deixada uma herança; e, ouvindo isto, levanta-se e, tornando-se extremamente alegre, reveste-se de força.

1“Now in the second vision you saw her standing with a youthful countenance, and more joyful than before; still she had the skin and hair of an aged woman. Hear,” said he, “this parable also. When one becomes somewhat old, he despairs of himself on account of his weakness and poverty, and looks forward to nothing but the last day of his life. Then suddenly an inheritance is left him; and hearing of this, he rises up, and becoming exceeding joyful, he puts on strength.

2E agora já não se reclina, mas se põe de pé; e o seu espírito, já destruído pelas suas ações anteriores, é renovado, e já não se senta, mas age com vigor. Assim aconteceu convosco ao ouvir a revelação que Deus vos deu. Pois o Senhor teve compaixão de vós, renovou o vosso espírito, e deixastes de lado as vossas enfermidades. O vigor surgiu em vós, e fortalecestes-vos na fé; e o Senhor, vendo a vossa força, alegrou-se.

2And now he no longer reclines, but stands up; and his spirit, already destroyed by his previous actions, is renewed, and he no longer sits, but acts with vigour. So happened it with you on hearing the revelation which God gave you. For the Lord had compassion on you, and renewed your spirit, and ye laid aside your infirmities. Vigour arose within you, and ye grew strong in faith; and the Lord seeing your strength, rejoiced.

3Por isso ele te mostrou a construção da torre; e te mostrará outras coisas, se continuardes em paz uns com os outros de todo o coração.”

3On this account He showed you the building of the tower; and He will show you other things, if you continue at peace with each other with all your heart.”
