Pastor de Hermas 7

1“Mas quanto a ti, Hermas, não te lembres dos males que os teus filhos te fizeram, nem negligencies a tua irmã, para que sejam purificados dos seus pecados anteriores. Pois serão instruídos com instrução justa, se não te lembrares dos males que te fizeram. Pois a lembrança dos males produz a morte. E tu, Hermas, suportaste grandes tribulações pessoais por causa das transgressões da tua casa, porque não cuidaste deles, mas foste descuidado e ocupado nos teus negócios iníquos.

1“But as for you, Hermas, remember not the wrongs done to you by your children, nor neglect your sister, that they may be cleansed from their former sins. For they will be instructed with righteous instruction, if you remember not the wrongs they have done you. For the remembrance of wrongs worketh death. And you, Hermas, have endured great personal tribulations on account of the transgressions of your house, because you did not attend to them, but were careless, and engaged in your wicked transactions.

2Mas foste salvo, porque não te afastaste do Deus vivo, e por causa da tua simplicidade e do teu grande domínio de ti mesmo. Estas coisas te salvaram, se permaneceres firme. E salvarão todos os que agirem do mesmo modo e andarem em inocência e simplicidade. Os que possuem tais virtudes se fortalecerão contra toda forma de maldade e permanecerão para a vida eterna. Bem-aventurados todos os que praticam a justiça, pois jamais serão destruídos.

2But you are saved, because you did not depart from the living God, and on account of your simplicity and great self-control. These have saved you, if you remain stedfast. And they will save all who act in the same manner, and walk in guilelessness and simplicity. Those who possess such virtues will wax strong against every form of wickedness, and will abide unto eternal life. Blessed are all they who practise righteousness, for they shall never be destroyed.

3Agora dirás a Máximo: Eis que vem a tribulação. Se te parece bom, nega outra vez. O Senhor está perto dos que se voltam para ele, como está escrito em Eldade e Modate, que profetizaram ao povo no deserto.”

3Now you will tell Maximus: Lo! tribulation cometh on. If it seemeth good to thee, deny again. The Lord is near to them who return unto Him, as it is written in Eldad and Modat, who prophesied to the people in the wilderness.”
