Pastor de Hermas 74

1“E os que entregaram os seus ramos meio verdes e meio secos são os que estão imersos em negócios e não se apegam aos santos. Por isso, uma metade deles vive e a outra metade está morta. Muitos, portanto, que ouviram os meus mandamentos se arrependeram, e os que ao menos se arrependeram tiveram a sua morada na torre. Mas alguns deles por fim decaíram: estes, portanto, não têm arrependimento, pois por causa dos seus negócios blasfemaram o Senhor e o negaram.

1“And they who gave in their branches half green and half withered, are those who are immersed in business, and do not cleave to the saints. For this reason, the one half of them is living, and the other half dead. Many, accordingly, who heard my commands repented, and those at least who repented had their dwelling in the tower. But some of them at last fell away: these, accordingly, have not repentance, for on account of their business they blasphemed the Lord, and denied Him.

2Perderam, portanto, a vida pela maldade que cometeram. E muitos deles duvidaram. Estes ainda têm o arrependimento ao seu alcance, se se arrependerem depressa; e a sua morada será na torre. Mas se forem mais lentos em arrepender-se, habitarão dentro dos muros; e se não se arrependerem, também eles perderam a vida. E os que entregaram os seus ramos dois terços secos e um terço verde são os que negaram [o Senhor] de várias maneiras.

2They therefore lost their lives through the wickedness which they committed. And many of them doubted. These still have repentance in their power, if they repent speedily; and their abode will be in the tower. But if they are slower in repenting, they will dwell within the walls; and if they do not repent, they too have lost their lives. And they who gave in their branches two-thirds withered and one-third green, are those who have denied [the Lord] in various ways.

3Muitos, porém, se arrependeram, mas alguns deles hesitaram e estavam em dúvida. Estes, pois, têm o arrependimento ao seu alcance, se se arrependerem depressa e não permanecerem nos seus prazeres; mas se permanecerem nas suas obras, também estes operam para si a morte.”

3Many, however, repented, but some of them hesitated and were in doubt. These, then, have repentance within their reach, if they repent quickly, and do not remain in their pleasures; but if they abide in their deeds, these, too, work to themselves death.”
