Protoevangelho de Tiago 4

1E eis que um anjo do Senhor se apresentou, dizendo: Ana, Ana, o Senhor ouviu a tua oração, e conceberás e darás à luz; e da tua descendência se falará em todo o mundo.

1And, behold, an angel of the Lord stood by, saying: Anna, Anna, the Lord hath heard thy prayer, and thou shalt conceive, and shall bring forth; and thy seed shall be spoken of in all the world.

2E Ana disse: Como vive o Senhor meu Deus, se eu gerar varão ou mulher, levá-lo-ei como oferta ao Senhor meu Deus; e ele o servirá nas coisas santas todos os dias da sua vida.

2And Anna said: As the Lord my God liveth, if I beget either male or female, I will bring it as a gift to the Lord my God; and it shall minister to Him in holy things all the days of its life.

3E eis que vieram dois anjos, dizendo-lhe: Eis que Joaquim, teu marido, vem com os seus rebanhos.

3And, behold, two angels came, saying to her: Behold, Joachim thy husband is coming with his flocks.

4Pois um anjo do Senhor desceu até ele, dizendo: Joaquim, Joaquim, o Senhor Deus ouviu a tua oração.

4For an angel of the Lord went down to him, saying: Joachim, Joachim, the Lord God hath heard thy prayer.

5Desce daqui; pois eis que tua mulher Ana conceberá.

5Go down hence; for, behold, thy wife Anna shall conceive.

6E Joaquim desceu e chamou os seus pastores, dizendo: Trazei-me aqui dez cordeiras sem mancha nem defeito, e serão para o Senhor meu Deus; e trazei-me doze vitelos tenros, e serão para os sacerdotes e os anciãos; e cem cabritos para todo o povo.

6And Joachim went down and called his shepherds, saying: Bring me hither ten she-lambs without spot or blemish, and they shall be for the Lord my God; and bring me twelve tender calves, and they shall be for the priests and the elders; and a hundred goats for all the people.

7E eis que Joaquim veio com os seus rebanhos; e Ana estava junto à porta, e viu Joaquim que vinha, e correu e pendurou-se ao seu pescoço, dizendo: Agora sei que o Senhor Deus me abençoou excessivamente; pois eis que a viúva já não é viúva, e eu, a sem filhos, conceberei.

7And, behold, Joachim came with his flocks; and Anna stood by the gate, and saw Joachim coming, and she ran and hung upon his neck, saying: Now I know that the Lord God hath blessed me exceedingly; for, behold the widow no longer a widow, and I the childless shall conceive.

8E Joaquim descansou o primeiro dia em sua casa.

8And Joachim rested the first day in his house.
