Protoevangelho de Tiago 5

1E no dia seguinte trouxe as suas ofertas, dizendo consigo mesmo: Se o Senhor Deus se tornou benigno para comigo, a lâmina da fronte do sacerdote mo tornará manifesto.

1And on the following day he brought his offerings, saying in himself: If the Lord God has been rendered gracious to me, the plate on the priest's forehead will make it manifest to me.

2E Joaquim trouxe as suas ofertas e observou atentamente a lâmina do sacerdote quando este subia ao altar do Senhor, e não viu pecado em si.

2And Joachim brought his offerings, and observed attentively the priest's plate when he went up to the altar of the Lord, and he saw no sin in himself.

3E Joaquim disse: Agora sei que o Senhor foi benigno para comigo e remitiu todos os meus pecados.

3And Joachim said: Now I know that the Lord has been gracious unto me, and has remitted all my sins.

4E desceu do templo do Senhor justificado e foi para a sua casa.

4And he went down from the temple of the Lord justified, and departed to his own house.

5E cumpriram-se os seus meses, e no nono mês Ana deu à luz.

5And her months were fulfilled, and in the ninth month Anna brought forth.

6E disse à parteira: Que dei à luz? e ela disse: Uma menina.

6And she said to the midwife: What have I brought forth? and she said: A girl.

7E disse Ana: Minha alma foi engrandecida neste dia.

7And said Anna: My soul has been magnified this day.

8E deitou-a. E cumpridos os dias, Ana foi purificada, e deu o peito à criança, e pôs-lhe o nome de Maria.

8And she laid her down. And the days having been fulfilled, Anna was purified, and gave the breast to the child, and called her name Mary.
