Provérbios 1

1Provérbios de Salomão, filho de Davi, rei de Israel.

1The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2Para conhecer a sabedoria e a instrução; para entender as palavras da prudência;

2To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3Para obter a instrução do entendimento; justiça, juízo e equidades;

3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4Para dar inteligência aos simples, conhecimento e bom senso aos jovens.

4To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5O sábio ouvirá, e crescerá em conhecimento; o bom entendedor obterá sábios conselhos.

5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6Para entender provérbios e sua interpretação; as palavras dos sábios, e seus enigmas.

6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7O temor ao SENHOR é o principio do conhecimento; os tolos desprezam a sabedoria e a instrução.

7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8Filho meu, ouve a instrução de teu pai; e não abandones a doutrina de tua mãe.

8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9Porque serão um ornamento gracioso para tua cabeça; e colares para teu pescoço.

9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10Filho meu, se os pecadores tentarem te convencer, não te deixes influenciar.

10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11Se disserem: Vem conosco, vamos espiar derramamento de sangue; preparemos uma emboscada ao inocente sem razão.

11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12Vamos tragá-los vivos, como o Xeol; e inteiros, como os que descem à cova.

12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13Acharemos toda espécie de coisas valiosas, encheremos nossas casas de despojos.

13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14Lança tua sorte entre nós, compartilharemos todos de uma só bolsa.

14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15Filho meu, não sigas teu caminho com eles; desvia teu pé para longe de onde eles passarem;

15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16Porque os pés deles correm para o mal, e se apressam para derramar sangue.

16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17Certamente é inútil se estender a rede diante da vista de todas as aves;

17Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18Porém estes estão esperando o derramamento de seu próprio sangue; e preparam emboscada para suas próprias almas.

18And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19Assim são os caminhos de todo aquele que tem ganância pelo lucro desonesto; ela tomará a alma daqueles que a tem.

19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20A sabedoria grita pelas ruas; nas praças ela levanta sua voz.

20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21Ela clama nas encruzilhadas, onde passam muita gente; às entradas das portas, nas cidades ela diz suas mensagens:

21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22Até quando, ó tolos, amareis a tolice? E vós zombadores, desejareis a zombaria? E vós loucos, odiareis o conhecimento?

22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23Convertei-vos à minha repreensão; eis que vos derramarei meu espírito, e vos farei saber minhas palavras.

23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24Mas porque eu clamei, e recusastes; estendi minha mão, e não houve quem desse atenção,

24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25E rejeitastes todo o meu conselho, e não quisestes minha repreensão,

25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26Também eu rirei em vosso sofrimento, e zombarei, quando vier vosso medo.

26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27Quando vier vosso temor como tempestade, e a causa de vosso sofrimento como ventania, quando vier sobre vós a opressão e a angústia,

27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28Então clamarão a mim; porém eu não responderei; de madrugada me buscarão, porém não me acharão.

28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29Porque odiaram o conhecimento; e escolheram não temer ao SENHOR.

29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30Não concordaram com meu conselho, e desprezaram toda a minha repreensão.

30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31Por isso comerão do fruto do seu próprio caminho, e se fartarão de seus próprios conselhos.

31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32Pois o desvio dos tolos os matará, e a confiança dos loucos os destruirá.

32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33Porém aquele que me ouvir habitará em segurança, e estará tranquilo do temor do mal.

33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
