Sabedoria de Salomão 3

1Mas as almas dos justos estão na mão de Deus, e nenhum tormento as tocará.

1But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them.

2Aos olhos dos insensatos pareceram morrer, e a sua saída foi tida por desgraça,

2In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery,

3e a sua partida de nós, por completa destruição; mas eles estão em paz.

3And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace.

4Pois, ainda que aos olhos dos homens sejam castigados, a sua esperança está cheia de imortalidade.

4For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.

5E, tendo sido um pouco castigados, serão grandemente recompensados; porque Deus os provou e os achou dignos de si.

5And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them, and found them worthy for himself.

6Provou-os como o ouro na fornalha, e os aceitou como holocausto.

6As gold in the furnace hath he tried them, and received them as a burnt offering.

7E no tempo da sua visitação resplandecerão, e correrão como faíscas entre a palha.

7And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.

8Julgarão as nações e dominarão sobre os povos, e o seu Senhor reinará para sempre.

8They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord shall reign for ever.

9Os que nele confiam entenderão a verdade, e os fiéis no amor permanecerão com ele; porque a graça e a misericórdia são para os seus santos, e ele tem cuidado dos seus eleitos.

9They that put their trust in him shall understand the truth: and such as be faithful in love shall abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his elect.

10Mas os ímpios serão castigados segundo os seus próprios pensamentos, eles que desprezaram o justo e se apartaram do Senhor.

10But the ungodly shall be punished according to their own imaginations, which have neglected the righteous, and forsaken the Lord.

11Porque quem despreza a sabedoria e a disciplina é miserável; e a sua esperança é vã, os seus trabalhos sem fruto e as suas obras inúteis.

11For whoso despiseth wisdom and nurture, he is miserable, and their hope is vain, their labours unfruitful, and their works unprofitable:

12As suas mulheres são insensatas, e os seus filhos, perversos;

12Their wives are foolish, and their children wicked:

13a sua descendência é maldita. Por isso, bem-aventurada a estéril que é pura, que não conheceu leito pecaminoso; ela terá fruto na visitação das almas.

13Their offspring is cursed. Wherefore blessed is the barren that is undefiled, which hath not known the sinful bed: she shall have fruit in the visitation of souls.

14E bem-aventurado o eunuco que com as suas mãos não praticou iniquidade, nem imaginou coisas más contra Deus; porque lhe será dado o dom especial da fé e uma herança no templo do Senhor, mais agradável ao seu coração.

14And blessed is the eunuch, which with his hands hath wrought no iniquity, nor imagined wicked things against God: for unto him shall be given the special gift of faith, and an inheritance in the temple of the Lord more acceptable to his mind.

15Porque glorioso é o fruto dos bons trabalhos, e a raiz da sabedoria nunca cairá.

15For glorious is the fruit of good labours: and the root of wisdom shall never fall away.

16Quanto aos filhos dos adúlteros, não chegarão à perfeição, e a descendência de leito ilegítimo será exterminada.

16As for the children of adulterers, they shall not come to their perfection, and the seed of an unrighteous bed shall be rooted out.

17Pois, ainda que vivam muito, não serão tidos em conta alguma, e a sua última velhice será sem honra.

17For though they live long, yet shall they be nothing regarded: and their last age shall be without honour.

18Ou, se morrerem cedo, não terão esperança nem consolação no dia do juízo.

18Or, if they die quickly, they have no hope, neither comfort in the day of trial.

19Porque terrível é o fim da geração injusta.

19For horrible is the end of the unrighteous generation.
