Sabedoria de Salomão 6

1Ouvi, pois, ó reis, e entendei; aprendei, vós que julgais os confins da terra.

1Hear therefore, O ye kings, and understand; learn, ye that be judges of the ends of the earth.

2Prestai ouvidos, vós que governais as multidões e vos gloriais do grande número de nações.

2Give ear, ye that rule the people, and glory in the multitude of nations.

3Porque o poder vos foi dado pelo Senhor, e a soberania pelo Altíssimo, que examinará as vossas obras e sondará os vossos conselhos.

3For power is given you of the Lord, and sovereignty from the Highest, who shall try your works, and search out your counsels.

4Porque, sendo ministros do seu reino, não julgastes retamente, nem guardastes a lei, nem andastes segundo o conselho de Deus,

4Because, being ministers of his kingdom, ye have not judged aright, nor kept the law, nor walked after the counsel of God;

5ele virá sobre vós de modo terrível e repentino; porque um juízo severo cairá sobre os que estão em altos postos.

5Horribly and speedily shall he come upon you: for a sharp judgment shall be to them that be in high places.

6Pois ao pequeno a misericórdia logo perdoa, mas os poderosos serão poderosamente atormentados.

6For mercy will soon pardon the meanest: but mighty men shall be mightily tormented.

7Porque aquele que é Senhor de todos não fará acepção de pessoas, nem temerá a grandeza de ninguém; pois ele fez o pequeno e o grande, e cuida de todos igualmente.

7For he which is Lord over all shall fear no man’s person, neither shall he stand in awe of any man’s greatness: for he hath made the small and great, and careth for all alike.

8Mas uma severa prova virá sobre os poderosos.

8But a sore trial shall come upon the mighty.

9A vós, pois, ó reis, dirijo as minhas palavras, para que aprendais a sabedoria e não caiais.

9Unto you therefore, O kings, do I speak, that ye may learn wisdom, and not fall away.

10Porque os que guardam santamente as coisas santas serão julgados santos, e os que as aprenderam acharão o que responder.

10For they that keep holiness holily shall be judged holy: and they that have learned such things shall find what to answer.

11Desejai, pois, as minhas palavras; ansiai por elas, e sereis instruídos.

11Wherefore set your affection upon my words; desire them, and ye shall be instructed.

12A sabedoria é resplandecente e nunca murcha; sim, é facilmente vista pelos que a amam, e achada pelos que a buscam.

12Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away: yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of such as seek her.

13Ela se antecipa aos que a desejam, dando-se a conhecer primeiro.

13She preventeth them that desire her, in making herself first known unto them.

14Quem madruga para buscá-la não se cansará, porque a achará assentada à sua porta.

14Whoso seeketh her early shall have no great travail: for he shall find her sitting at his doors.

15Pensar nela é, pois, a perfeição da prudência, e quem vigia por ela logo estará livre de cuidados.

15To think therefore upon her is perfection of wisdom: and whoso watcheth for her shall quickly be without care.

16Porque ela anda em redor buscando os que são dignos dela, e se lhes mostra favorável pelos caminhos, e vai ao seu encontro em cada pensamento.

16For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, sheweth herself favourably unto them in the ways, and meeteth them in every thought.

17Porque o seu verdadeiro princípio é o desejo da disciplina; e o cuidado da disciplina é o amor;

17For the very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline; and the care of discipline is love;

18e o amor é a guarda das suas leis; e a observância das suas leis é a garantia da incorruptibilidade;

18And love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption;

19e a incorruptibilidade nos aproxima de Deus.

19And incorruption maketh us near unto God:

20Portanto, o desejo da sabedoria conduz ao reino.

20Therefore the desire of wisdom bringeth to a kingdom.

21Se vos deleitais, pois, em tronos e cetros, ó reis dos povos, honrai a sabedoria, para que reineis para sempre.

21If your delight be then in thrones and sceptres, O ye kings of the people, honour wisdom, that ye may reign for evermore.

22Quanto à sabedoria, o que ela é e como nasceu, eu vos direi, e não vos esconderei os mistérios; mas a investigarei desde o princípio do seu nascimento, e porei à luz o seu conhecimento, e não passarei por alto a verdade.

22As for wisdom, what she is, and how she came up, I will tell you, and will not hide mysteries from you: but will seek her out from the beginning of her nativity, and bring the knowledge of her into light, and will not pass over the truth.

23Nem andarei com a inveja que consome, porque esse não terá parte com a sabedoria.

23Neither will I go with consuming envy; for such a man shall have no fellowship with wisdom.

24Mas a multidão dos sábios é a salvação do mundo, e um rei sábio é o sustentáculo do povo.

24But the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the world: and a wise king is the upholding of the people.

25Recebei, pois, a instrução por meio das minhas palavras, e ela vos será proveitosa.

25Receive therefore instruction through my words, and it shall do you good.
