Salmos de Salomão 16

1Quando a minha alma dormitava (estando longe) do Senhor, estive quase resvalando para a cova, Quando (eu estava) longe de Deus, a minha alma quase se derramara para a morte, (Estivera) perto das portas do Xeol com o pecador, quando a minha alma se afastou do Senhor Deus de Israel-- Não me tivesse o Senhor ajudado com a sua misericórdia eterna.

1When my soul slumbered (being afar) from the Lord, I had all but slipped down to the pit, When (I was) far from God, my soul had been wellnigh poured out unto death, (I had been) nigh unto the gates of Sheol with the sinner, when my soul departed from the Lord God of Israel-- Had not the Lord helped me with His everlasting mercy.

2Picou-me, como se pica um cavalo, para que eu o servisse, O meu salvador e auxiliador em todo tempo me salvou.

2He pricked me, as a horse is pricked, that I might serve Him, My saviour and helper at all times saved me.

3Dar-te-ei graças, ó Deus, pois me ajudaste para a (minha) salvação; E não me contaste entre os pecadores para a (minha) destruição.

3I will give thanks unto Thee, O God, for Thou hast helped me to (my) salvation; And hast not counted me with sinners to (my) destruction.

4Não retires de mim a tua misericórdia, ó Deus, Nem o teu memorial do meu coração até que eu morra.

4Remove not Thy mercy from me, O God, Nor Thy memorial from my heart until I die.

5Governa-me, ó Deus, (guardando-me) do pecado perverso, E de toda mulher perversa que faz tropeçar os simples.

5Rule me, O God, (keeping me back) from wicked sin, And from every wicked woman that causeth the simple to stumble.

6E não me seduza a beleza de uma mulher sem lei, Nem ninguém que esteja sujeito (?) ao pecado inútil.

6And let not the beauty of a lawless woman beguile me, Nor any one that is subject to (?) unprofitable sin.

7Firma as obras das minhas mãos diante de ti, E preserva os meus passos na lembrança de ti.

7Establish the works of my hands before Thee, And preserve my goings in the remembrance of Thee.

8Protege a minha língua e os meus lábios com palavras de verdade; Ira e cólera irrefletida afasta de mim.

8Protect my tongue and my lips with words of truth; Anger and unreasoning wrath put far from me.

9Murmuração e impaciência na aflição afasta de mim, Quando, se eu pecar, tu me castigas para que eu volte (a ti).

9Murmuring, and impatience in affliction, remove far from me, When, if I sin, Thou chastenest me that I may return (unto Thee).

10Mas com boa vontade e alegria sustenta a minha alma; Quando fortaleces a minha alma, o que me é dado será suficiente para mim.

10But with goodwill and cheerfulness support my soul; When Thou strengthenest my soul, what is given (to me) will be sufficient for me.

11Pois se não dás força, Quem pode suportar a correção com pobreza?

11For if Thou givest not strength, Who can endure chastisement with poverty?

12Quando um homem é repreendido por meio da sua corrupção, A tua prova (dele) está na sua carne e na aflição da pobreza.

12When a man is rebuked by means of his corruption, Thy testing (of him) is in his flesh and in the affliction of poverty.

13Se o justo perseverar em todas estas (provas), receberá misericórdia do Senhor.

13If the righteous endureth in all these (trials), he shall receive mercy from the Lord.
