Salmos de Salomão 17

1Senhor, tu és o nosso Rei para sempre e sempre, Pois em ti, ó Deus, se gloria a nossa alma.

1Lord, Thou art our King for ever and ever, For in Thee, O God, doth our soul glory.

2Quão longos são os dias da vida do homem sobre a terra? Como são os seus dias, assim é a esperança (posta) nele.

2How long are the days of man's life upon the earth? As are his days, so is the hope (set) upon him.

3Mas nós esperamos em Deus, nosso libertador; Pois o poder do nosso Deus é para sempre com misericórdia, E o reino do nosso Deus é para sempre sobre as nações em juízo.

3But we hope in God, our deliverer; For the might of our God is for ever with mercy, And the kingdom of our God is for ever over the nations in judgement.

4Tu, ó Senhor, escolheste Davi (para ser) rei sobre Israel, E juraste-lhe a respeito da sua descendência que nunca o seu reino falharia diante de ti.

4Thou, O Lord, didst choose David (to be) king over Israel, And swaredst to him touching his seed that never should his kingdom fail before Thee.

5Mas, por causa dos nossos pecados, pecadores se levantaram contra nós; Assaltaram-nos e lançaram-nos fora; O que não lhes tinhas prometido, tomaram (de nós) com violência.

5But, for our sins, sinners rose up against us; They assailed us and thrust us out; What Thou hadst not promised to them, they took away (from us) with violence.

6De modo algum glorificaram o teu nome honrado; Puseram uma monarquia (mundana) no lugar (daquilo que era) a sua excelência;

6They in no wise glorified Thy honourable name; They set a (worldly) monarchy in place of (that which was) their excellency;

7Devastaram o trono de Davi em tumultuosa arrogância. Mas tu, ó Deus, os derrubaste e removeste a sua semente da terra, Porque se levantou contra eles um homem que era estranho à nossa raça.

7They laid waste the throne of David in tumultuous arrogance. But Thou, O God, didst cast them down, and remove their seed from the earth, In that there rose up against them a man that was alien to our race.

8Conforme os seus pecados os retribuíste, ó Deus; De modo que lhes sucedeu conforme as suas obras.

8According to their sins didst Thou recompense them, O God; So that it befell them according to their deeds.

9Deus não lhes mostrou piedade; Procurou a sua semente e não deixou nenhum deles escapar.

9God showed them no pity; He sought out their seed and let not one of them go free.

10Fiel é o Senhor em todos os seus juízos Que executa sobre a terra.

10Faithful is the Lord in all His judgements Which He doeth upon the earth.

11O sem lei devastou a nossa terra de modo que ninguém a habitava, Destruíram jovens e velhos e os seus filhos juntamente.

11The lawless one laid waste our land so that none inhabited it, They destroyed young and old and their children together.

12No calor da sua ira enviou-os até o ocidente, E (expôs) os governantes da terra sem piedade ao escárnio.

12In the heat of His anger He sent them away even unto the west, And (He exposed) the rulers of the land unsparingly to derision.

13Sendo estrangeiro, o inimigo agiu com soberba, E o seu coração era estranho ao nosso Deus.

13Being an alien the enemy acted proudly, And his heart was alien from our God.

14E todos . . . Jerusalém, Assim como as nações . . . E os filhos da aliança no meio dos povos misturados . . . Não havia entre eles quem praticasse no meio de Jerusalém misericórdia e verdade.

14And all . . . Jerusalem, As also the nations . . . And the children of the covenant in the midst of the mingled peoples . . . There was not among them one that wrought in the midst of Jerusalem mercy and truth.

15Os que amavam as sinagogas dos piedosos fugiram deles, Como pardais que voam do seu ninho.

15They that loved the synagogues of the pious fled from them, As sparrows that fly from their nest.

16Vagaram por desertos para que as suas vidas fossem salvas do mal, E precioso aos olhos dos que viviam no estrangeiro era qualquer que escapasse vivo deles.

16They wandered in deserts that their lives might be saved from harm, And precious in the eyes of them that lived abroad was any that escaped alive from them.

17Por toda a terra foram dispersos por (homens) sem lei.

17Over the whole earth were they scattered by lawless (men).

18Pois os céus retiveram a chuva de cair sobre a terra, As fontes foram represadas (que brotavam) perenemente das profundezas, (que corriam) dos altos montes.

18For the heavens withheld the rain from dropping upon the earth, Springs were stopped (that sprang) perennial(ly) out of the deeps, (that ran down) from lofty mountains.

19Pois não havia entre eles quem praticasse justiça e retidão; Do principal deles ao menor (deles) todos eram pecadores;

19For there was none among them that wrought righteousness and justice; From the chief of them to the least (of them) all were sinful;

20O rei era transgressor, e o juiz desobediente, e o povo pecador.

20The king was a transgressor, and the judge disobedient, and the people sinful.

21Olha, ó Senhor, e levanta para eles o seu rei, o filho de Davi, No tempo em que tu vires, ó Deus, para que reine sobre Israel, teu servo.

21Behold, O Lord, and raise up unto them their king, the son of David, At the time in the which Thou seest, O God, that he may reign over Israel Thy servant.

22E cinge-o de força, para que despedace governantes injustos, E para que purifique Jerusalém das nações que a pisam até a destruição.

22And gird him with strength, that he may shatter unrighteous rulers, And that he may purge Jerusalem from nations that trample (her) down to destruction.

23Com sabedoria e justiça expulsará pecadores da herança, Destruirá a soberba do pecador como um vaso de oleiro.

23Wisely, righteously he shall thrust out sinners from (the) inheritance, He shall destroy the pride of the sinner as a potter's vessel.

24Com vara de ferro quebrará em pedaços toda a sua substância, Destruirá as nações ímpias com a palavra da sua boca;

24With a rod of iron he shall break in pieces all their substance, He shall destroy the godless nations with the word of his mouth;

25À sua repreensão as nações fugirão diante dele, E repreenderá os pecadores pelos pensamentos do seu coração.

25At his rebuke nations shall flee before him, And he shall reprove sinners for the thoughts of their heart.

26E reunirá um povo santo, que conduzirá em justiça, E julgará as tribos do povo que foi santificado pelo Senhor seu Deus.

26And he shall gather together a holy people, whom he shall lead in righteousness, And he shall judge the tribes of the people that has been sanctified by the Lord his God.

27E não permitirá que a injustiça se aloje mais no meio deles, Nem habitará com eles homem algum que conheça a maldade, Pois ele os reconhecerá, que são todos filhos do seu Deus.

27And he shall not suffer unrighteousness to lodge any more in their midst, Nor shall there dwell with them any man that knoweth wickedness, For he shall know them, that they are all sons of their God.

28E os repartirá segundo as suas tribos sobre a terra, E nem forasteiro nem estrangeiro morará mais com eles.

28And he shall divide them according to their tribes upon the land, And neither sojourner nor alien shall sojourn with them any more.

29Julgará povos e nações na sabedoria da sua justiça. Selá.

29He shall judge peoples and nations in the wisdom of his righteousness. Selah.

30E terá as nações gentias a servi-lo debaixo do seu jugo; E glorificará o Senhor em lugar a ser visto por (?) toda a terra;

30And he shall have the heathen nations to serve him under his yoke; And he shall glorify the Lord in a place to be seen of (?) all the earth;

31E purificará Jerusalém, tornando-a santa como outrora:

31And he shall purge Jerusalem, making it holy as of old:

32De modo que as nações virão dos confins da terra para ver a sua glória, Trazendo como presentes os seus filhos que desfaleceram, E para ver a glória do Senhor, com que Deus a glorificou.

32So that nations shall come from the ends of the earth to see his glory, Bringing as gifts her sons who had fainted, And to see the glory of the Lord, wherewith God hath glorified her.

33E ele (será) um rei justo, ensinado por Deus, sobre eles, E não haverá injustiça nos seus dias no meio deles, Pois todos serão santos e o seu rei o ungido do Senhor.

33And he (shall be) a righteous king, taught of God, over them, And there shall be no unrighteousness in his days in their midst, For all shall be holy and their king the anointed of the Lord.

34Pois não porá a sua confiança em cavalo e cavaleiro e arco, Nem multiplicará para si ouro e prata para a guerra, Nem tomará confiança de (?) uma multidão (?) para o dia da batalha.

34For he shall not put his trust in horse and rider and bow, Nor shall he multiply for himself gold and silver for war, Nor shall he gather confidence from (?) a multitude (?) for the day of battle.

35O próprio Senhor é o seu rei, a esperança daquele que é poderoso pela (sua) esperança em Deus. Todas as nações (estarão) em temor diante dele, Pois ferirá a terra com a palavra da sua boca para sempre.

35The Lord Himself is his king, the hope of him that is mighty through (his) hope in God. All nations (shall be) in fear before him, For he will smite the earth with the word of his mouth for ever.

36Abençoará o povo do Senhor com sabedoria e alegria, E ele mesmo (será) puro de pecado, para que possa governar um grande povo. Repreenderá governantes e removerá pecadores pelo poder da sua palavra;

36He will bless the people of the Lord with wisdom and gladness, And he himself (will be) pure from sin, so that he may rule a great people. He will rebuke rulers, and remove sinners by the might of his word;

37E (confiando) no seu Deus, durante todos os seus dias não tropeçará; Pois Deus o fará poderoso por meio do (seu) espírito santo, E sábio por meio do espírito de entendimento, com força e justiça.

37And (relying) upon his God, throughout his days he will not stumble; For God will make him mighty by means of (His) holy spirit, And wise by means of the spirit of understanding, with strength and righteousness.

38E a bênção do Senhor (estará) com ele: será forte e não tropeçará;

38And the blessing of the Lord (will be) with him: he will be strong and stumble not;

39A sua esperança (estará) no Senhor: quem, pois, poderá prevalecer contra ele? (Será) poderoso nas suas obras e forte no temor de Deus, (Será) pastor do rebanho do Senhor com fidelidade e justiça, E não permitirá que ninguém entre eles tropece na sua pastagem.

39His hope (will be) in the Lord: who then can prevail against him? (He will be) mighty in his works, and strong in the fear of God, (He will be) shepherding the flock of the Lord faithfully and righteously, And will suffer none among them to stumble in their pasture.

40Conduzi-los-á todos retamente, E não haverá soberba entre eles que faça alguém entre eles ser oprimido.

40He will lead them all aright, And there will be no pride among them that any among them should be oppressed.

41Esta (será) a majestade do rei de Israel a quem Deus conhece; Ele o levantará sobre a casa de Israel para corrigi-lo.

41This (will be) the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth; He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him.

42As suas palavras (serão) mais refinadas que ouro precioso, o mais escolhido; Nas assembleias julgará os povos, as tribos dos santificados.

42His words (shall be) more refined than costly gold, the choicest; In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified.

43As suas palavras (serão) como as palavras dos santos no meio de povos santificados.

43His words (shall be) like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples.

44Bem-aventurados os que estarão naqueles dias, Porque verão a boa fortuna de Israel que Deus realizará na reunião das tribos.

44Blessed be they that shall be in those days, In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes.

45Apresse o Senhor a sua misericórdia sobre Israel! Livre-nos ele da impureza de inimigos profanos! O próprio Senhor é o nosso rei para sempre e sempre.

45May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel! May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies! The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever.
