Salmos de Salomão 8

1Angústia e som de guerra ouviu o meu ouvido, O som de uma trombeta que anuncia matança e calamidade, O som de muita gente como de um vento fortíssimo, Como uma tempestade com fogo poderoso varrendo o Negueb.

1Distress and the sound of war hath my ear heard, The sound of a trumpet announcing slaughter and calamity, The sound of much people as of an exceeding high wind, As a tempest with mighty fire sweeping through the Negeb.

2E eu disse no meu coração: Certamente (?) Deus nos julga;

2And I said in my heart, Surely (?) God judgeth us;

3Ouço um som (que se move) para Jerusalém, a cidade santa.

3A sound I hear (moving) towards Jerusalem, the holy city.

4Os meus lombos se quebraram ao que ouvi, os meus joelhos vacilaram; O meu coração teve medo, os meus ossos se espantaram como linho.

4My loins were broken at what I heard, my knees tottered; My heart was afraid, my bones were dismayed like flax.

5Eu disse: Firmam os seus caminhos em justiça.

5I said: They establish their ways in righteousness.

6Pensei nos juízos de Deus desde a criação do céu e da terra; Tive Deus por justo nos seus juízos que existem desde a antiguidade.

6I thought upon the judgements of God since the creation of heaven and earth; I held God righteous in His judgements which have been from of old.

7Deus descobriu os seus pecados em plena luz do dia; Toda a terra veio a conhecer os justos juízos de Deus.

7God laid bare their sins in the full light of day; All the earth came to know the righteous judgements of God.

8Em lugares secretos debaixo da terra as suas iniquidades (eram cometidas) para provocá-lo à ira;

8In secret places underground their iniquities (were committed) to provoke (Him) to anger;

9Fizeram confusão, filho com mãe e pai com filha;

9They wrought confusion, son with mother and father with daughter;

10Cometeram adultério, cada homem com a mulher do seu próximo.

10They committed adultery, every man with his neighbour's wife.

11Firmaram pactos uns com os outros com juramento a respeito destas coisas; Saquearam o santuário de Deus, como se não houvesse vingador.

11They concluded covenants with one another with an oath touching these things; They plundered the sanctuary of God, as though there was no avenger.

12Pisaram o altar do Senhor, (vindo direto) de toda sorte de impureza; E com sangue menstrual contaminaram os sacrifícios, como (se fossem) carne comum.

12They trode the altar of the Lord, (coming straight) from all manner of uncleanness; And with menstrual blood they defiled the sacrifices, as (though these were) common flesh.

13Não deixaram pecado por cometer em que não superassem os gentios.

13They left no sin undone, wherein they surpassed not the heathen.

14Por isso Deus misturou para eles um espírito de errância; E deu-lhes a beber um cálice de vinho puro, para que se embriagassem.

14Therefore God mingled for them a spirit of wandering; And gave them to drink a cup of undiluted wine, that they might become drunken.

15Trouxe aquele que vem do fim da terra, que fere poderosamente; Decretou (?) guerra contra Jerusalém e contra a sua terra.

15He brought him that is from the end of the earth, that smiteth mightily; He decreed (?) war against Jerusalem, and against her land.

16Os príncipes da terra foram ao seu encontro com alegria: disseram-lhe: Bendito seja o teu caminho! Vinde, entrai em paz.

16The princes of the land went to meet him with joy: they said unto him: Blessed be thy way! Come ye, enter ye in with peace.

17Aplainaram os caminhos ásperos, antes da sua entrada; Abriram as portas de Jerusalém, coroaram os seus muros.

17They made the rough ways even, before his entering in; They opened the gates to Jerusalem, they crowned its walls.

18Como um pai (entra) na casa dos seus filhos, (assim) entrou (em Jerusalém) em paz; Firmou os seus pés (ali) em grande segurança.

18As a father (entereth) the house of his sons, (so) he entered (Jerusalem) in peace; He established his feet (there) in great safety.

19Tomou as suas fortalezas e o muro de Jerusalém; Pois o próprio Deus o conduziu em segurança, enquanto eles erravam.

19He captured her fortresses and the wall of Jerusalem; For God Himself led him in safety, while they wandered.

20Destruiu os seus príncipes e todo sábio em conselho; Derramou o sangue dos habitantes de Jerusalém, como a água da impureza.

20He destroyed their princes and every one wise in counsel; He poured out the blood of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, like the water of uncleanness.

21Levou cativos os seus filhos e filhas, que tinham gerado em contaminação.

21He led away their sons and daughters, whom they had begotten in defilement.

22Fizeram conforme a sua impureza, como os seus pais (tinham feito): Contaminaram Jerusalém e as coisas que tinham sido consagradas ao nome de Deus.

22They did according to their uncleanness, even as their fathers (had done): They defiled Jerusalem and the things that had been hallowed to the name of God.

23(Mas) Deus se mostrou justo nos seus juízos sobre as nações da terra; E os (servos) piedosos de Deus são como cordeiros inocentes no meio delas.

23(But) God hath shown Himself righteous in His judgements upon the nations of the earth; And the pious (servants) of God are like innocent lambs in their midst.

24Digno de ser louvado é o Senhor que julga toda a terra na sua justiça.

24Worthy to be praised is the Lord that judgeth the whole earth in His righteousness.

25Eis, agora, ó Deus, que nos mostraste o teu juízo na tua justiça; Os nossos olhos viram os teus juízos, ó Deus.

25Behold, now, O God, Thou hast shown us Thy judgement in Thy righteousness; Our eyes have seen Thy judgements, O God.

26Justificamos o teu nome, que é honrado para sempre; Pois tu és o Deus de justiça, que julga Israel com correção.

26We have justified Thy name that is honoured for ever; For Thou art the God of righteousness, judging Israel with chastening.

27Volta, ó Deus, a tua misericórdia para nós e tem piedade de nós;

27Turn, O God, Thy mercy upon us, and have pity upon us;

28E não nos afastaremos de ti, Pois bons são os teus juízos sobre nós.

28And we will not depart from Thee, For good are Thy judgements upon us.

29Nossa e dos nossos filhos seja a tua benevolência para sempre; Ó Senhor nosso Salvador, nunca mais seremos abalados.

29Ours and our children's be Thy good pleasure for ever; O Lord our Saviour, we shall never more be moved.

30O Senhor é digno de ser louvado pelos seus juízos, pela boca dos seus piedosos; E bendito seja Israel do Senhor para sempre.

30The Lord is worthy to be praised for His judgements with the mouth of His pious ones; And blessed be Israel of the Lord for ever.
