Salmos 40

1Salmo de Davi, para o regente: Esperei com esperança no SENHOR, e ele se inclinou a mim, e ouviu o meu clamor.

1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2Ele me tirou de uma cova de tormento, de um lamaceiro de barro; e pôs os meus pés sobre uma rocha; ele firmou meus passos.

2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3E pôs em minha boca uma canção nova, um louvor para nosso Deus: muitos o verão, e temerão, e confiarão no SENHOR.

3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

4Bem-aventurado é o homem que põe no SENHOR sua confiança; e não dá atenção aos arrogantes e aos que caminham em direção à mentira.

4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5Tu, SENHOR meu Deus, multiplicaste para conosco tuas maravilhas e teus planos; eles não podem ser contados em ordem diante de ti; se eu tentasse contá-los e falá-los, eles são muito mais do que incontáveis.

5Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6Tu não te agradaste de sacrifício e oferta; porém tu me furaste as orelhas; tu não pediste nem holocausto nem oferta de expiação do pecado.

6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7Então eu disse: Eis que venho; no rolo do livro está escrito sobre mim.

7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8Meu Deus, eu desejo fazer a tua vontade; e tua Lei está no meio dos meus sentimentos.

8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9Eu anuncio a justiça na grande congregação; eis que não retenho meus lábios; tu, SENHOR sabes disso.

9I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

10Eu não escondo tua justiça no meio de meu coração; eu declaro tua fidelidade e tua salvação; não escondo tua bondade e tua verdade na grande congregação.

10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11Tu, SENHOR, não detenhas para comigo tuas misericórdias; tua bondade e tua fidelidade me guardem continuamente.

11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12Porque inúmeros males me cercaram; minhas maldades me prenderam, e eu não pude as ver; elas são muito mais do que os cabelos de minha cabeça, e meu coração me desamparou.

12For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13Seja agradável para ti, SENHOR, tu me livrares; SENHOR, apressa-te ao meu socorro.

13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

14Envergonhem-se, e sejam juntamente humilhados os que buscam a minha alma para a destruírem; tornem-se para trás e sejam envergonhados os que querem o meu mal.

14Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15Sejam eles assolados como pagamento de sua humilhação, os que dizem de mim: “Ha-ha!”

15Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16Fiquem contentes e se alegrem-se em ti todos aqueles que te buscam; digam continuamente os que amam tua salvação: Engrandecido seja o SENHOR!

16Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17E eu estou miserável e necessitado; mas o SENHOR cuida de mim; tu és meu socorro e meu libertador; Deus meu, não demores.

17But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
