Testamento de Isaque 3

1E quando as multidões ouviram que aparecera um homem de Deus, ajuntaram-se a ele de todos os países e de todos os lugares, para ouvirem as suas instruções e os seus preceitos que dão vida, a fim de que ele as ensinasse, porque era o Espírito de Deus que falava nele.

1And when the multitudes heard that a man of God had appeared, they were gathered together to him from every country and from every place that they might hear his instructions and his life-giving precepts, that he might teach them, because it was the Spirit of God which spake in him.

2Então os grandes homens que se tinham ajuntado a ele lhe disseram: Que sabedoria é esta que repousou sobre ti desde o tempo em que a luz dos teus olhos se apartou de ti, e como é que agora vês?

2Then the great men who were gathered together to him said to him, What is this wisdom which has rested upon thee since the time that the light of thine eyes departed from thee, and how is it that thou seest now?

3E o fiel ancião sorriu e lhes disse: Em verdade, aos que estão presentes direi: Deus me curou quando viu que eu me aproximara da porta da morte; designou-me esta consolação na minha velhice, a de que eu fosse sacerdote do Senhor.

3And as for the faithful old man, he smiled and said to them, Verily them who are present I will tell: God healed me when He saw that I had drawn near to the gate of death: he hath appointed for me this consolation in my old age that I should be a priest of the Lord.

4Então um lhe disse: Começa para mim um discurso, para que eu receba consolação e o guarde na memória.

4Then one said to him, Begin me a discourse that I may receive consolation and keep it in mind.

5E Nosso Pai Isaque lhe disse: Quando falares com ira, guarda-te de difamar, e acautela-te da vanglória.

5And our Father Isaac said to him, When thou speakest in anger keep thyself from defaming, and beware of vainglory.

6Vê que não fales só de ti mesmo; toma cuidado para que nenhuma palavra corrupta saia da tua boca.

6See that thou speak not of thyself alone’; take care that there proceed no corrupt word out of thy mouth.

7Guarda o teu corpo para que seja puro, porque ele é o templo do Espírito de Santidade que nele habita.

7Keep thy body that it may be pure, for it is the temple of the Spirit of Holiness that dwelleth in it.

8Toma cuidado com o teu corpo “vil”, para que seja puro e santificado.

8Take heed to thy “vile” body that it may be pure and sanctified.

9Guarda-te de brincar com a tua língua, para que não saia da tua boca palavra corrupta.

9Beware that thou sport not with thy tongue lest a corrupt word proceed from thy mouth.

10Guarda-te de estender a tua mão ao que não possuis.

10Beware of stretching out thine hand to that which thou dost not own.

11Não apresentes a tua oferta quando não estiveres limpo.

11Do not present thine offering when thou art not clean.

12Lava-te na água quando quiseres aproximar-te do altar.

12Bathe in water when thou wouldest draw near to the altar.

13Não mistures os teus pensamentos com os pensamentos do mundo.

13Do not mingle thy thoughts with the thoughts of the world.

14Quando estiveres diante dele, a tua oferta de maior mérito é fazer a paz entre os homens.

14What time thou standest before Him, thy most meritorious offering is to make peace between men.

15Quando desejares trazer as tuas ofertas a Deus, quando te aproximares para vires diante do altar, orarás a Deus cem vezes sem cessar.

15When thou desirest to bring thy offerings to God, when thou drawest near to come before the altar, thou shalt pray to God a hundred times without remission.
