Testamento de Isaque 6

1Então eu disse ao Anjo: Qual é o pecado, ó meu Senhor, que este homem pecou, para que lhe tenham feito assim?

1Then I said to the Angel, What is the sin, O my Lord, which this man hath sinned that they have done thus unto him?

2O Anjo me disse: Este homem que vês ofendeu o seu próximo há cinco horas, e morreu sem se reconciliar com ele.

2The Angel said to me, This man whom thou seest offended his neighbour five hours ago and he died without being reconciled to him.

3Por isso é entregue a cinco dos atormentadores, para que o atormentem um ano inteiro por cada uma das cinco horas em que permaneceu em inimizade com o seu próximo.

3So he is delivered to five of the tormentors that they may torment him a whole year for each hour of the five during which he remained in enmity with his fellow.

4Então o Anjo me disse: Ó meu amado Isaque, olha para estes 60 demônios que atormentam por cada hora em que um homem permanece em inimizade com o seu próximo.

4Then the Angel said to me, O my beloved Isaac, look upon these 60 demons who torment for every hour that a man remains at enmity with his neighbour.

5E é trazido para cá, a estes que o atormentam, cada um por uma hora, até que se cumpra um ano inteiro, todo homem que não fez as pazes nem se arrependeu do seu pecado antes da sua partida e separação do seu corpo.

5And he is brought hither to these who torment him each one for an hour until a whole year is fulfilled, any man who has not made peace and repented of his sin before his departure and separation from his body.

6E levou-me a um rio de fogo, e vi as suas ondas batendo e subindo a mais de 30 côvados, e a sua voz era como o trovão que ribomba.

6And he brought me to a river of fire, and I saw its waves beating and rising higher than 30 cubits, and the voice thereof was like rushing thunder.

7E olhei para muitas almas que se afundavam nele até uma profundidade de mais de nove côvados, e os que estavam naquele rio choravam e gritavam em alta voz e com profundo gemido.

7And I looked upon many souls sinking in it to a depth of more than nine cubits, and they who were in that river were weeping and crying out with a loud voice and deep groaning.

8E o rio tinha inteligência no seu fogo, para que não ferisse os justos, mas só os pecadores, queimando-os.

8And the river had intelligence in the fire thereof that it should not hurt the righteous but the sinners only, burning them.

9E queimava cada um deles por causa do odor fétido e repugnante que envolvia os pecadores.

9And it burnt everyone of them because of the stinking and loathsome odour which enwrapt the sinners.

10E considerei o rio profundo, cuja fumaça subia diante de mim, e vi um grande número de homens no fundo dele, gritando, chorando e gemendo cada um deles.

10And I considered the deep river whose smoke ascended up before me, and I saw a number of men in the bottom thereof, crying out, weeping every one of them and groaning.

11E o Anjo me disse: Olha para a parte mais baixa, para que vejas aqueles que hás de ver na mais profunda das profundezas; estes são os que cometeram a transgressão de Sodoma; em verdade suportam um castigo penoso.

11And the Angel said to me, Look into the lowest part that thou mayest see those whom thou wilt see in the lowest depth; these are they that have committed the trespass of Sodom; verily they endure a grievous punishment.

12E olhei para aquele que estava posto sobre o tormento, e era de fogo todo ele, e feria os satélites do Fogo Infernal, e dizia-lhes: Matai-os de uma vez, e saberão que Deus é para sempre.

12And I looked upon him who was set over the torment, and he was of fire all of him, and he was smiting the satellites of the Infernal Fire and saying to them, Kill them outright and they shall know that God is for everlasting.

13E o Anjo me disse: Levanta os teus olhos e olha para todos os castigos.

13And the Angel said to me, Lift up thine eyes and look upon all the punishments.

14Então eu disse ao Anjo: A minha vista não os pode conter, porque são tantos, mas desejo saber por quanto tempo estes hão de continuar neste castigo.

14Then I said to the Angel, My sight cannot contain them because they are so many, but I desire to know how long these are to continue in this punishment.

15E ele me disse: Até que o Deus de misericórdia se compadeça e tenha misericórdia deles.

15And he said to me, Until the God of mercy be merciful and have mercy on them.
