Testamento de Jacó 7

1Agora, pois, meus filhos, não façais cessar de vós a oração e o jejum, porque são eles que afugentam os demônios.

1Now therefore, my children, let not prayer and fasting fail from among you, for it is they that drive away the demons.

2Meus filhos, guardai-vos da fornicação, e da ira, e do adultério, e de toda obra maligna, e especialmente da injustiça, e da blasfêmia, e da injúria; porque nenhuma injustiça herdará o reino dos céus; nem os fornicadores, nem os efeminados, nem os que se contaminam com homens, nem os blasfemadores, nem os ébrios, nem os idólatras, nem os maldizentes, nem os extorquidores; sim, e o restante daqueles que mencionamos não herdará o reino de Deus.

2My children, keep yourselves from fornication, and anger, and adultery, and every evil thing, and especially from injustice, and blasphemy, and reviling; because no injustice shall inherit the kingdom of the heavens; neither fornicators, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor blasphemers, nor drunkards, nor idolaters, nor revilers, nor extortioners; yea, and the rest of them of whom we have spoken shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

3Meus filhos, dai glória aos santos, porque são eles que intercedem por vós, para que a vossa semente se multiplique e herdeis a terra da promessa para sempre; meus filhos, sede acolhedores de estrangeiros, para que alcanceis a porção de nosso pai Abraão, o grande patriarca.

3My children, give glory unto the saints, for it is they that make intercession for you, that your seed may multiply and that ye may inherit the land of promise for ever; my children, be lovers of strangers, that ye may receive the portion of our father Abraham the great patriarch.

4Meus filhos, amai os pobres; pois do modo como fizeres ao pobre neste lugar, Deus te dará o pão da vida eterna nos céus; porquanto quem alimentar um pobre com um pão neste lugar, Deus o alimentará da árvore da vida.

4My children, love the poor; for in the manner that thou shalt do unto the poor man in this place, God shall give unto thee the bread of everlasting life in the heavens; yea, whosoever shall feed a poor man with a loaf of bread in this place, God shall feed him from the tree of life.

5Veste o pobre que está nu neste lugar sobre a terra, para que Ele te vista com uma veste de glória nos céus, e te tornes filho de nossos santos pais os patriarcas Abraão, e Isaque, e Jacó nos céus para sempre.

5Clothe the poor man that is naked in this place upon the earth, that He may clothe thee with a robe of glory in the heavens, and that thou mayest become a son of our holy fathers the patriarchs Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the heavens for ever.

6Atende à palavra de Deus neste lugar, e faze memória dos santos; seja escrita a memória deles e um exemplo para consolar os que a ouvirem, para que o teu nome também seja escrito no Livro da Vida nos céus, e te contem no coro dos Seus santos, os quais Lhe agradaram em sua geração, para exultares com os anjos na terra dos viventes.

6Take heed unto the word of God in this place, and make remembrance of the saints; let their memorial and an example of them be written to comfort them that shall hear them, that thy name also may be written in the Book of Life in the heavens, and that they may reckon thee in the choir of His holy ones, even those who pleased Him in their generation, to dance with the angels in the land of the living.

7Celebrai agora a memória dos santos patriarcas nossos pais nesta estação de ano em ano: nosso pai Abraão, o patriarca, no vigésimo oitavo dia de Mesore; nosso pai Isaque também, o patriarca, no vigésimo oitavo dia de Mesore; nosso pai Jacó igualmente, no vigésimo oitavo dia do mesmo mês de Mesore.

7Celebrate now the remembrance of the holy patriarchs our fathers at this season year by year: our father Abraham the patriarch, on the twenty and eighth day of Mesore; our father Isaac also the patriarch, on the twenty and eighth day of Mesore; our father Jacob likewise, on the twenty and eighth day of the same month Mesore.

8Segundo o que achamos escrito nos antigos escritos de nossos santos pais os Apóstolos que agradaram a Deus; e seja concedido a todos nós juntamente, mediante o seu rogo e a sua súplica, que alcancemos a sua porção e a sua herança no reino de nosso Senhor e nosso Deus e nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo, pelo qual seja a glória ao Pai com Ele, e ao Santo Espírito vivificador, agora e em todo o tempo e por todos os séculos dos séculos. Amém.

8According as we found it written in the ancient compilations of our holy fathers the Apostles who pleased God; and may it be granted unto us all together, through their entreaty and their supplication, that we may attain unto their portion and their lot in the kingdom of our Lord and our God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, through whom be the glory unto the Father with Him, and unto the Holy Life-giving Spirit, now and at all times and for ever and ever. Amen.

9Lembrai-vos de mim, para que Deus me perdoe todos os meus pecados, e me dê entendimento, e me conceda um fim sem pecado. Amém.

9Remember me, that God may forgive me all my sins, and grant me understanding, and vouchsafe unto me a sinless departure. Amen.
