Vidas dos Profetas 12

1Amós, o profeta: nasceu em Tecoa, na terra de Zebulom.

1Amos the prophet: he was born in Thekoue, in the land of Zebulun.

2É o pai de Isaías, o profeta.

2He is the father of Isaiah the prophet.

3Amasias, o sacerdote de Betel, tendo-o espancado muitas vezes e armando-lhe ciladas, o injuriava; e por fim o filho de Amasias o matou, ferindo-o com um cacete na têmpora, porque o repreendera acerca do laço das duas novilhas de ouro.

3Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, having often beaten him, and lying in wait for him, reviled him; and at last the son of Amaziah slew him, striking him with a club on the temple, because he rebuked him concerning the snare of the two golden heifers.

4E ainda respirando, chegou à sua terra; e morreu e foi ali sepultado com os seus pais.

4And still breathing, he came to his own land; and he died, and was buried there with his fathers.
