1Malaquias, o profeta, era da tribo de Zebulom.

1Malachi the prophet was of the tribe of Zebulun.

2Depois do retorno do povo de Babilônia nasceu em Sofa, na terra de Zebulom.

2After the return of the people from Babylon he was born in Sopha, in the land of Zebulun.

3E, ainda jovem, teve boa vida e profetizou muito acerca da visitação do Senhor e acerca do juízo dos mortos e de que os costumes de Moisés seriam cumpridos e mudados.

3And while still young he led a good life, and he prophesied much concerning the visitation of the Lord, and concerning the judgment of the dead, and that the customs of Moses would be fulfilled and changed.

4E como todo o povo o honrava como santo e manso, foi chamado Malaquias, que se interpreta “anjo”.

4And since all the people honored him as holy and gentle, he was called Malachi, which is interpreted "angel."

5Pois era também muito belo de aspecto; e, além disso, tudo o que dizia em profecia, no mesmo dia um anjo, aparecendo, repetia a sua profecia, como aconteceu nos dias da anarquia, como está escrito em Sfar Fotim, isto é, no livro dos Juízes.

5For he was also very comely in appearance; and moreover, whatever he said in prophecy, on that same day an angel appeared and repeated his prophecy, as happened in the days of anarchy, as it is written in Sphar phothim, that is, in the book of Judges.

6E o profeta, sendo jovem, morreu e foi reunido aos seus pais no seu campo.

6And the prophet, being young, died, and was gathered to his fathers in his own field.
