1Simeão, o sacerdote: era da tribo de Arão.

1Simeon the priest: he was of the tribe of Aaron.

2Foi divinamente advertido pelo Espírito Santo de que não veria a morte até que visse o Cristo na carne.

2He was divinely warned by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death until he should see the Christ in the flesh.

3Tomou o Senhor nos seus próprios braços.

3He took up the Lord into his own arms.

4E glorificou a Deus, dizendo: “Os meus olhos viram a tua salvação.

4And he glorified God, saying: "Mine eyes have seen your salvation.

5Agora despedes o teu servo, Senhor, segundo a tua palavra, em paz.”

5Now you release your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace."

6E morreu e foi sepultado perto dos sacerdotes, ancião cheio de dias.

6And he died, and was buried near the priests, an old man full of days.
