1 Clemente 56

1Portanto, intercedamos também pelos que estão em alguma transgressão, para que lhes sejam dadas tolerância e humildade, a fim de que cedam não a nós, mas à vontade de Deus. Pois assim a compassiva lembrança deles junto a Deus e aos santos lhes será frutuosa e perfeita.

1Therefore let us also make intercession for them that are in any transgression, that forbearance and humility may be given them, to the end that they may yield not unto us, but unto the will of God. For so shall the compassionate remembrance of them with God and the saints be fruitful unto them, and perfect.

2Aceitemos a correção, com a qual homem algum deve irritar-se, amados. A admoestação que damos uns aos outros é boa e excessivamente útil; pois nos une à vontade de Deus.

2Let us accept chastisement, whereat no man ought to be vexed, dearly beloved. The admonition which we give one to another is good and exceeding useful; for it joineth us unto the will of God.

3Pois assim diz a santa palavra: O Senhor de fato me castigou, e não me entregou à morte.

3For thus saith the holy word; The Lord hath indeed chastened me, and hath not delivered me over unto death.

4Pois o Senhor corrige a quem ama, e açoita a todo filho a quem recebe.

4For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.

5Pois o justo, diz-se, me castigará em misericórdia e me repreenderá, mas não unja a minha cabeça a misericórdia dos pecadores.

5For the righteous, it is said, shall chasten me in mercy and shall reprove me, but let not the mercy of sinners anoint my head.

6E de novo diz: Bem-aventurado o homem a quem o Senhor repreendeu, e não recuses tu a admoestação do Todo-Poderoso. Pois Ele causa dor, e de novo cura:

6And again He saith; Blessed is the man whom the Lord hath reproved, and refuse not thou the admonition of the Almighty. For He causeth pain, and he restoreth again:

7Feriu, e as Suas mãos curaram.

7He hath smitten, and His hands have healed.

8Seis vezes te livrará das aflições, e na sétima nenhum mal te tocará.

8Six times shall He rescue thee from afflictions and at the seventh no evil shall touch thee.

9Na fome te livrará da morte, e na guerra te libertará do braço da espada.

9In famine he shall deliver thee from death, and in war He shall release thee from the arm of the sword.

10E do açoite da língua te esconderá, e não temerás quando os males se aproximarem.

10And from the scourge of the tongue He shall hide thee and thou shalt not be afraid when evils approach.

11Rir-te-ás dos injustos e ímpios, e das feras não terás medo.

11Thou shalt laugh at the unrighteous and wicked, and of the wild beasts thou shalt not be afraid.

12Pois as feras estarão em paz contigo.

12For wild beasts shall be at peace with thee.

13Então saberás que a tua casa estará em paz: e a morada do teu tabernáculo não errará, e saberás que a tua semente é numerosa, e os teus filhos como a abundante erva do campo.

13Then shalt thou know that thy house shall be at peace: and the abode of thy tabernacle shall not go wrong, and thou shalt know that thy seed is many, and thy children as the plenteous herbage of the field.

14E chegarás à sepultura como o trigo maduro ceifado na estação devida, ou como o monte da eira reunido no tempo certo.

14And thou shalt come to the grave as ripe corn reaped in due season, or as the heap of the threshing floor gathered together at the right time.

15Vedes, amados, quão grande proteção há para os que são corrigidos pelo Mestre: pois, sendo um pai bondoso, corrige-nos a fim de que alcancemos misericórdia por meio da Sua santa correção.

15Ye see, dearly beloved, how great protection there is for them that are chastened by the Master: for being a kind father He chasteneth us to the end that we may obtain mercy through His holy chastisement.
