1 Clemente 59

1Mas, se algumas pessoas forem desobedientes às palavras ditas por Ele por meio de nós, entendam que se enredarão em transgressão e perigo não pequenos;

1But if certain persons should be disobedient unto the words spoken by Him through us, let them understand that they will entangle themselves in no slight transgression and danger;

2mas nós seremos inocentes deste pecado. E pediremos, com insistência de oração e súplica, que o Criador do universo guarde intacto até o fim o número que foi contado dos Seus eleitos em todo o mundo, por meio do Seu amado Filho Jesus Cristo, por quem nos chamou das trevas para a luz, da ignorância para o pleno conhecimento da glória do Seu Nome.

2but we shall be guiltless of this sin. And we will ask, with instancy of prayer and supplication, that the Creator of the universe may guard intact unto the end the number that hath been numbered of His elect throughout the whole world, through His beloved Son Jesus Christ, through whom He called us from darkness to light, from ignorance to the full knowledge of the glory of His Name.

3[Concede-nos, Senhor,] que ponhamos a nossa esperança no Teu Nome, que é a fonte primordial de toda a criação, e abre os olhos dos nossos corações, para que Te conheçamos, a Ti, que somente és o Altíssimo nas alturas, Santo nos santos; que humilhas a insolência dos soberbos, que pões os humildes no alto e abates os altivos; que enriqueces e empobreces; que matas e dás vida; que somente és o Benfeitor dos espíritos e o Deus de toda carne; que olhas os abismos, que examinas as obras do homem; o Socorro dos que estão em perigo, o Salvador dos que estão em desespero; o Criador e Supervisor de todo espírito; que multiplicas as nações sobre a terra, e escolheste de todos os homens os que Te amam por meio de Jesus Cristo, Teu amado Filho, por meio de quem nos instruíste, nos santificaste, nos honraste.

3[Grant unto us, Lord,] that we may set our hope on Thy Name which is the primal source of all creation, and open the eyes of our hearts, that we may know Thee, who alone abidest Highest in the lofty, Holy in the holy; who layest low in the insolence of the proud, who settest the lowly on high, and bringest the lofty low; who makest rich and makest poor; who killest and makest alive; who alone art the Benefactor of spirits and the God of all flesh; who lookest into the abysses, who scanest the works of man; the Succor of them that are in peril, the Savior of them that are in despair; The Creator and Overseer of every spirit; who multipliest the nations upon earth, and hast chosen out from all men those that love Thee through Jesus Christ, Thy beloved Son, through whom Thou didst instruct us, didst sanctify us, didst honor us.

4Rogamos-Te, Senhor e Mestre, que sejas o nosso auxílio e socorro. Salva os que dentre nós estão em tribulação; tem misericórdia dos humildes; levanta os caídos; mostra-Te aos necessitados; cura os ímpios; converte os desviados do Teu povo; alimenta os famintos; liberta os nossos prisioneiros; levanta os fracos; consola os desanimados. Que todas as nações saibam que Tu és o único Deus, e Jesus Cristo é o Teu Filho, e nós somos o Teu povo e as ovelhas do Teu pasto.

4We beseech Thee, Lord and Master, to be our help and succor. Save those among us who are in tribulation; have mercy on the lowly; lift up the fallen; show Thyself unto the needy; heal the ungodly; convert the wanderers of Thy people; feed the hungry; release our prisoners; raise up the weak; comfort the fainthearted. Let all the Gentiles know that Thou art the God alone, and Jesus Christ is Thy Son, and we are Thy people and the sheep of Thy pasture.
