1Aqueles homens me mostraram o outro curso, o da lua, doze grandes portas, coroadas de oeste a leste, pelas quais a lua entra e sai nos tempos costumeiros.

1Those men showed me the other course, that of the moon, twelve great gates, crowned from west to east, by which the moon goes in and out of the customary times.

2Entra pela primeira porta para os lugares ocidentais do sol, pelas primeiras portas com (trinta e) um (dias) exatamente, pelas segundas portas com trinta e um dias exatamente, pelas terceiras com trinta dias exatamente, pelas quartas com trinta dias exatamente, pelas quintas com trinta e um dias exatamente, pelas sextas com trinta e um dias exatamente, pelas sétimas com trinta dias exatamente, pelas oitavas com trinta e um dias perfeitamente, pelas nonas com trinta e um dias exatamente, pelas décimas com trinta dias perfeitamente, pelas décimas primeiras com trinta e um dias exatamente, pelas décimas segundas com vinte e oito dias exatamente.

2It goes in at the first gate to the western places of the sun, by the first gates with (thirty)-one (days) exactly, by the second gates with thirty-one days exactly, by the third with thirty days exactly, by the fourth with thirty days exactly, by the fifth with thirty-one days exactly, by the sixth with thirty-one days exactly, by the seventh with thirty days exactly, by the eighth with thirty-one days perfectly, by the ninth with thirty-one days exactly, by the tenth with thirty days perfectly, by the eleventh with thirty-one days exactly, by the twelfth with twenty-eight days exactly.

3E passa pelas portas ocidentais na ordem e número das orientais e cumpre os trezentos e sessenta e cinco dias e um quarto do ano solar, enquanto o ano lunar tem trezentos e cinquenta e quatro, e faltam (-lhe) doze dias do círculo solar, que são as epactas lunares de todo o ano.

3And it goes through the western gates in the order and number of the eastern, and accomplishes the three hundred and sixty-five and a quarter days of the solar year, while the lunar year has three hundred fifty-four, and there are wanting (to it) twelve days of the solar circle, which are the lunar epacts of the whole year.

4Assim também o grande círculo contém quinhentos e trinta e dois anos.

4Thus, too, the great circle contains five hundred and thirty-two years.

5O quarto (de dia) é omitido por três anos, o quarto o completa exatamente.

5The quarter (of a day) is omitted for three years, the fourth fulfills it exactly.

6Por isso são levados para fora do céu por três anos e não são acrescentados ao número dos dias, porque mudam o tempo dos anos para dois meses novos em direção à completude, para dois outros em direção à diminuição.

6Therefore they are taken outside of heaven for three years and are not added to the number of days, because they change the time of the years to two new months towards completion, to two others towards diminution.

7E quando as portas ocidentais terminam, volta e vai às orientais para as luzes, e anda assim dia e noite em torno dos círculos celestes, mais baixo que todos os círculos, mais veloz que os ventos celestes, e espíritos e elementos e anjos voando; cada anjo tem seis asas.

7And when the western gates are finished, it returns and goes to the eastern to the lights, and goes thus day and night about the heavenly circles, lower than all circles, swifter than the heavenly winds, and spirits and elements and angels flying; each angel has six wings.

8Tem um curso sétuplo em dezenove anos.

8It has a sevenfold course in nineteen years.
