Apocalipse de Paulo 45

1E depois disso o anjo disse-me: Viste todas estas coisas?

1And after that the angel said to me: Hast thou seen all these things?

2E eu disse: Sim, Senhor. E ele me disse: Segue-me e levar-te-ei ao Paraíso, para que os justos que ali estão te vejam, pois eis que esperam ver-te, e estão prontos para vir ao teu encontro em júbilo e alegria.

2And I said: Yes, Sir. And he said to me: Follow me and I will lead thee into Paradise, that the just who are there may see thee, for lo! they hope to see thee, and they are ready to come to meet thee in joy and gladness.

3E segui o anjo por impulso do Espírito Santo, e ele me pôs no Paraíso e disse-me: Este é o Paraíso em que Adão e a sua mulher erraram.

3And I followed the angel by the impulse of the Holy Spirit, and he placed me in Paradise and said to me: This is Paradise in which Adam and his wife erred.

4Além disso entrei no Paraíso e vi o princípio das águas, e havia um anjo que me fazia sinal e me disse: Observa, disse ele, as águas, pois este é o rio Físon, que rodeia toda a terra de Evilá, e o segundo é o Geon, que rodeia toda a terra do Egito e da Etiópia, e o terceiro é o Tigre, que está defronte dos assírios, e outro é o Eufrates, que rega toda a terra da Mesopotâmia.

4Moreover I entered Paradise and saw the beginning of waters, and there was an angel making a sign to me and he said to me: Observe, said he, the waters, for this is the river of Physon which surrounds all the land of Evilla, and the second is Geon which surrounds all the land of Egypt and Ethiopia, and the third is Thigris which is over against the Assyrians, and another is Eufrates which waters all the land of Mesopotamia.

5E quando entrei vi uma árvore plantada, de cujas raízes saía água, e deste princípio havia quatro rios.

5And when I had gone inside I saw a tree planted from whose roots water flowed out, and from this beginning there were four rivers.

6E o espírito de Deus repousava sobre aquela árvore, e quando o Espírito soprava, as águas fluíam, e eu disse: Meu Senhor, é esta mesma árvore que faz fluir as águas?

6And the spirit of God rested on that tree, and when the Spirit blew, the waters flowed forth, and I said: My Lord, is it this tree itself which makes the waters flow?

7E ele me disse: Isto, que desde o princípio, antes que os céus e a terra fossem manifestados, e todas as coisas aqui invisíveis, o Espírito de Deus era levado sobre as águas, mas desde o tempo em que o mandato de Deus fez aparecer os céus e a terra, o Espírito repousou sobre esta árvore: por isso, sempre que o Espírito sopra, as águas fluem da árvore.

7And he said to me: That from the beginning, before the heavens and earth were manifested, and all things here invisible, the Spirit of God was borne upon the waters, but from the time when the command of God made the heavens and earth to appear, the Spirit rested upon this tree: wherefore whenever the Spirit blows, the waters flow forth from the tree.

8E tomou-me pela mão e levou-me perto da árvore do conhecimento do bem e do mal, e disse: Esta é a árvore por meio da qual a morte entrou no mundo, e, recebendo dela por meio da sua mulher, Adão comeu, e a morte entrou no mundo.

8And he held me by the hand and led me near the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and he said: This is the tree by which death entered into the world, and receiving of it through his wife Adam ate and death entered into the world.

9E mostrou-me outra árvore no meio do Paraíso, e diz-me: Esta é a árvore da vida.

9And he shewed me another tree in the midst of Paradise, and saith to me: This is the tree of life.
