Apocalipse de Tomé 1

1Ouve tu, ó Tomé, pois eu sou o Filho de Deus Pai e o pai de todos os espíritos. Ouve de mim os sinais que hão de acontecer no fim deste mundo, quando o fim do mundo se cumprir antes que os meus eleitos partam do mundo.

1Hear thou, O Thomas, for I am the Son of God the Father and I am the father of all spirits. Hear thou of me the signs which shall come to pass at the end of this world, when the end of the world shall be fulfilled before mine elect depart out of the world.

2Dir-te-ei abertamente aquilo que há de suceder aos homens; mas quando estas coisas hão de ser, os príncipes dos anjos não o sabem, visto que isto lhes está oculto.

2I will tell thee that which shall come to pass openly unto men: but when these things shall be the princes of the angels know not, seeing it is now hidden from before them.

3Haverá então no mundo partilhas entre rei e rei, e em toda a terra haverá grande fome, grandes pestes e muitas angústias; e os filhos dos homens serão levados cativos entre todas as nações e cairão ao fio da espada, e haverá grande comoção no mundo. Depois disto, aproximando-se a hora do fim, haverá durante sete dias grandes sinais no céu, e as potestades dos céus serão abaladas.

3Then shall there be in the world sharings between king and king, and in all the earth shall be great famine, great pestilences, and many distresses, and the sons of men shall be led captive among all nations and shall fall by the edge of the sword, and there shall be great commotion in the world. Then after that when the hour of the end draweth nigh there shall be for seven days great signs in heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be moved.

4Haverá então no primeiro dia o princípio: à terceira hora do dia, uma grande e poderosa voz no firmamento do céu, e uma nuvem sanguinolenta que subirá do norte; e grandes trovões e relâmpagos poderosos a seguirão, e ela cobrirá todo o céu, e haverá chuva de sangue sobre toda a terra. Estes são os sinais do primeiro dia.

4Then shall there be on the first day the beginning: at the third hour of the day a great and mighty voice in the firmament of heaven and a bloody cloud coming up out of the north, and great thunderings and mighty lightnings shall follow it, and it shall cover the whole heaven, and there shall be a rain of blood upon all the earth. These are the signs of the first day.

5E no segundo dia haverá uma grande voz no firmamento do céu, e a terra será movida do seu lugar, e as portas do céu se abrirão no firmamento do céu em direção ao oriente; e a fumaça de um grande fogo irromperá pelas portas do céu e cobrirá todo o céu até a tarde. Naquele dia haverá temores e grandes terrores no mundo. Estes são os sinais do segundo dia.

5And on the second day there shall be a great voice in the firmament of heaven, and the earth shall be moved out of its place, and the gates of heaven shall be opened in the firmament of heaven toward the east, and the smoke of a great fire shall break forth through the gates of heaven and shall cover all the heaven until evening. In that day there shall be fears and great terrors in the world. These are the signs of the second day.

6Mas no terceiro dia, por volta da terceira hora, haverá uma grande voz no céu, e os abismos da terra rugirão dos quatro cantos do mundo; os pináculos do firmamento do céu se abrirão, e todo o ar se encherá de colunas de fumaça. Haverá um mau cheiro de enxofre, mui maligno, até a décima hora, e os homens dirão: Cremos que se aproxima o tempo em que pereceremos. Estes são os sinais do terceiro dia.

6But on the third day about the third hour shall be a great voice in heaven, and the abysses of the earth shall roar from the four corners of the world; the pinnacles of the firmament of heaven shall be opened, and all the air shall be filled with pillars of smoke. There shall be a stench of brimstone, very evil, until the tenth hour, and men shall say: We think the time draweth nigh that we perish. These are the signs of the third day.

7E no quarto dia, à primeira hora, da terra do oriente o abismo se fundirá e rugirá. Então toda a terra será abalada pelo poder de um terremoto. Naquele dia cairão os ornamentos dos gentios e todos os edifícios da terra perante a força do terremoto. Estes são os sinais do quarto dia.

7And on the fourth day at the first hour, from the land of the east the abyss shall melt and roar. Then shall all the earth be shaken by the might of an earthquake. In that day shall the ornaments of the heathen fall, and all the buildings of the earth, before the might of the earthquake. These are the signs of the fourth day.

8Mas no quinto dia, à sexta hora, subitamente haverá um grande trovão no céu, e as potestades da luz e a roda do sol serão arrebatadas, e haverá grandes trevas no mundo até a tarde; e o ar ficará sombrio, sem sol nem lua, e as estrelas cessarão o seu ministério. Naquele dia todas as nações contemplarão como num espelho e desprezarão a vida deste mundo. Estes são os sinais do quinto dia.

8But on the fifth day at the sixth hour, suddenly there shall be a great thunder in heaven, and the powers of light and the wheel of the sun shall be caught away, and there shall be great darkness in the world until evening, and the air shall be gloomy without sun or moon, and the stars shall cease from their ministry. In that day shall all nations behold as in a mirror and shall despise the life of this world. These are the signs of the fifth day.

9E no sexto dia, à quarta hora, haverá uma grande voz no céu, e o firmamento do céu será fendido do oriente até o ocidente; e os anjos dos céus olharão para a terra pelas aberturas dos céus, e todos os que estiverem sobre a terra contemplarão o exército dos anjos olhando desde o céu.

9And on the sixth day at the fourth hour there shall be a great voice in heaven, and the firmament of the heaven shall be cloven from the east unto the west, and the angels of the heavens shall be looking forth upon the earth by the openings of the heavens, and all these that are on the earth shall behold the host of the angels looking forth out of heaven.

10Então todos os homens fugirão para os sepulcros e se esconderão da face dos anjos justos, dizendo: Oxalá a terra se abrisse e nos tragasse! E sucederão coisas quais nunca houve desde que este mundo foi criado.

10Then shall all men flee unto the monuments and hide themselves from the face of the righteous angels, and say: Would that the earth would open and swallow us up! And such things shall come to pass as never were since this world was created.

11Então me verão vir do alto na luz de meu Pai, com o poder e a honra dos santos anjos. Então, à minha vinda, a cerca de fogo do paraíso será desfeita — porque o paraíso está cercado de fogo ao redor. E este será aquele fogo perpétuo que consumirá a terra e todos os elementos do mundo.

11Then shall they behold me coming from above in the light of my Father with the power and honour of the holy angels. Then at my coming shall the fence of fire of paradise be done away — because paradise is girt round about with fire. And this shall be that perpetual fire that shall consume the earth and all the elements of the world.

12Então os espíritos e as almas de todos os homens sairão do paraíso e virão sobre toda a terra; e cada um deles irá para o seu próprio corpo, onde jaz guardado, e cada um deles dirá: Aqui jaz o meu corpo. E quando a grande voz desses espíritos for ouvida, haverá então um grande terremoto sobre todo o mundo, e pela sua força as montanhas serão fendidas de cima e as rochas de baixo.

12Then shall the spirits and souls of all men come forth from paradise and shall come upon all the earth: and every one of them shall go unto his own body, where it is laid up, and every one of them shall say: Here lieth my body. And when the great voice of those spirits shall be heard, then shall there be a great earthquake over all the world, and by the might thereof the mountains shall be cloven from above and the rocks from beneath.

13Então cada espírito retornará ao seu próprio vaso, e os corpos dos santos que dormiram ressuscitarão.

13Then shall every spirit return into his own vessel and the bodies of the saints which have fallen asleep shall arise.

14Então os seus corpos serão transformados à imagem e semelhança e à honra dos santos anjos, e ao poder da imagem de meu santo Pai. Então serão vestidos com a vestidura da vida eterna, tirada da nuvem de luz que nunca foi vista neste mundo; pois essa nuvem desce do mais alto reino do céu pelo poder de meu Pai. E aquela nuvem envolverá com a sua formosura todos os espíritos que creram em mim.

14Then shall their bodies be changed into the image and likeness and the honour of the holy angels, and into the power of the image of mine holy Father. Then shall they be clothed with the vesture of life eternal, out of the cloud of light which hath never been seen in this world; for that cloud cometh down out of the highest realm of the heaven from the power of my Father. And that cloud shall compass about with the beauty thereof all the spirits that have believed in me.

15Então serão vestidos e sustentados pelas mãos dos santos anjos, assim como vos disse outrora. Então também serão elevados nos ares sobre uma nuvem de luz, e irão comigo regozijando-se para o céu, e então permanecerão na luz e honra de meu Pai. Então haverá para eles grande alegria junto a meu Pai e diante dos santos anjos. Estes são os sinais do sexto dia.

15Then shall they be clothed, and shall be borne by the hands of the holy angels like as I have told you aforetime. Then also shall they be lifted up into the air upon a cloud of light, and shall go with me rejoicing unto heaven, and then shall they continue in the light and honour of my Father. Then shall there be unto them great gladness with my Father and before the holy angels. These are the signs of the sixth day.

16E no sétimo dia, à oitava hora, haverá vozes nos quatro cantos do céu. E todo o ar será abalado e cheio de santos anjos, e pelejarão entre si durante todo o dia. E naquele dia os meus eleitos serão recolhidos pelos santos anjos da destruição do mundo. Então todos os homens verão que a hora da sua destruição se aproxima. Estes são os sinais do sétimo dia.

16And on the seventh day at the eighth hour there shall be voices in the four corners of the heaven. And all the air shall be shaken, and filled with holy angels, and they shall make war among them all the day long. And in that day shall mine elect be sought out by the holy angels from the destruction of the world. Then shall all men see that the hour of their destruction draweth near. These are the signs of the seventh day.

17E, passados os sete dias, no oitavo dia, à sexta hora, haverá no céu uma suave e branda voz vinda do oriente. Então será revelado aquele anjo que tem potestade sobre os santos anjos; e todos os anjos sairão com ele, assentados sobre carruagens das nuvens de meu santo Pai, regozijando-se e correndo pelo ar debaixo do céu para livrar os eleitos que creram em mim. E eles se alegrarão por ter chegado a destruição deste mundo.

17And when the seven days are passed by, on the eighth day at the sixth hour there shall be a sweet and tender voice in heaven from the east. Then shall that angel be revealed which hath power over the holy angels: and all the angels shall go forth with him, sitting upon chariots of the clouds of mine holy Father, rejoicing and running upon the air beneath the heaven to deliver the elect that have believed in me. And they shall rejoice that the destruction of this world hath come.

18Terminadas estão as palavras do Salvador a Tomé acerca do fim deste mundo.
