Evangelho de Nicodemos 3

1E Pilatos encheu-se de indignação e saiu para fora do pretório e lhes diz: Tomo o Sol por testemunha de que não acho culpa alguma neste homem. Os judeus responderam e disseram ao governador: Se este homem não fosse malfeitor, não o teríamos entregado a ti. E Pilatos disse: Tomai-o vós e julgai-o segundo a vossa lei. Os judeus disseram a Pilatos: Não nos é lícito matar homem algum. Pilatos disse: Deus vos proibiu matar, e a mim o permitiu?

1And Pilate was filled with indignation and went forth without the judgement hall and saith unto them: I call the Sun to witness that I find no fault in this man. The Jews answered and said to the governor: If this man were not a malefactor we would not have delivered him unto thee. And Pilate said: Take ye him and judge him according to your law. The Jews said unto Pilate: It is not lawful for us to put any man to death. Pilate said: Hath God forbidden you to slay, and allowed me?

2E Pilatos entrou de novo no pretório e chamou Jesus à parte e lhe disse: És Tu o Rei dos judeus? Jesus respondeu e disse a Pilatos: Dizes isto de ti mesmo, ou outros to disseram de mim? Pilatos respondeu a Jesus: Sou eu também judeu? a tua própria nação e os principais sacerdotes te entregaram a mim: que fizeste? Jesus respondeu: O meu reino não é deste mundo; pois, se o meu reino fosse deste mundo, os meus servos teriam lutado para que eu não fosse entregue aos judeus: mas agora o meu reino não é daqui. Pilatos lhe disse: Tu és rei, então? Jesus lhe respondeu: Tu dizes que sou rei; para isto nasci e vim, para que todo aquele que é da verdade ouça a minha voz. Pilatos lhe diz: Que é a verdade? Jesus lhe diz: A verdade é do céu. Pilatos diz: Não há verdade sobre a terra? Jesus diz a Pilatos: Vês como os que falam a verdade são julgados por aqueles que têm autoridade sobre a terra.

2And Pilate went in again into the judgement hall and called Jesus apart and said unto him: Art thou the King of the Jews? Jesus answered and said to Pilate: Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? Pilate answered Jesus: Am I also a Jew? thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world; for if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have striven that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate said unto him: Art thou a king, then? Jesus answered him: Thou sayest that I am a king; for this cause was I born and am come, that every one that is of the truth should hear my voice. Pilate saith unto him: What is truth? Jesus saith unto him: Truth is of heaven. Pilate saith: Is there not truth upon earth? Jesus saith unto Pilate: Thou seest how that they which speak the truth are judged of them that have authority upon earth.
