Inácio aos Romanos 1

1Inácio, que também é chamado Teóforo, àquela que alcançou misericórdia na magnificência do Altíssimo Pai e de Jesus Cristo, Seu único Filho; à igreja amada e iluminada pela vontade d'Aquele que tudo quis quanto existe, pela fé e amor para com Jesus Cristo nosso Deus; sim, àquela que preside no lugar da região dos romanos, digna de Deus, digna de honra, digna de congratulação, digna de louvor, digna de êxito, digna em pureza, e presidindo no amor, andando na lei de Cristo e levando o nome do Pai; a qual igreja saúdo no nome de Jesus Cristo, Filho do Pai; àqueles que na carne e no espírito estão unidos a cada um dos Seus mandamentos, cheios da graça de Deus sem vacilar, e limpos de toda mancha alheia: abundante saudação em Jesus Cristo nosso Deus, em perfeita pureza.

1Ignatius, who is also Theophorus, unto her that hath found mercy in the bountifulness of the Father Most High and of Jesus Christ His only Son; to the church that is beloved and enlightened through the will of Him who willed all things that are, by faith and love towards Jesus Christ our God; even unto her that hath the presidency in the country of the region of the Romans, being worthy of God, worthy of honour, worthy of felicitation, worthy of praise, worthy of success, worthy in purity, and having the presidency of love, walking in the law of Christ and bearing the Father's name; which church also I salute in the name of Jesus Christ the Son of the Father; unto them that in flesh and spirit are united unto His every commandment, being filled with the grace of God without wavering, and filtered clear from every foreign stain; abundant greeting in Jesus Christ our God in blamelessness.

2Porquanto, em resposta à minha oração a Deus, foi-me concedido ver as vossas piedosas faces, de sorte que obtive mais ainda do que pedia; pois trazendo cadeias em Cristo Jesus, espero saudar-vos, se for da divina vontade que eu seja julgado digno de perseverar até ao fim;

2Forasmuch as in answer to my prayer to God it hath been granted me to see your godly countenances, so that I have obtained even more than I asked; for wearing bonds in Christ Jesus I hope to salute you, if it be the Divine will that I should be counted worthy to reach unto the end;

3pois o princípio, em verdade, está bem ordenado, se tão-somente eu alcançar a meta, para receber a minha herança sem empecilho. Pois temo o vosso próprio amor, para que não me cause dano; porque vos é fácil fazer o que quereis, mas para mim é árduo alcançar a Deus, se vós não me poupardes.

3for the beginning verily is well ordered, if so be I shall attain unto the goal, that I may receive mine inheritance without hinderance. For I dread your very love, lest it do me an injury; for it is easy for you to do what ye will, but for me it is difficult to attain unto God, unless ye shall spare me.
