Inácio aos Tralianos 1

1Inácio, que também é chamado Teóforo, àquela que é amada por Deus Pai de Jesus Cristo; à santa igreja que está em Trales da Ásia, eleita e digna de Deus, tendo paz na carne e no espírito mediante a paixão de Jesus Cristo, nossa esperança pela ressurreição n'Ele; a qual igreja saúdo na plenitude divina à maneira apostólica, e desejo-lhe abundante saudação.

1Ignatius, who is also Theophorus, unto her that is beloved by God the Father of Jesus Christ; to the holy church which is in Tralles of Asia, elect and worthy of God, having peace in flesh and spirit through the passion of Jesus Christ, who is our hope through our resurrection unto Him; which church also I salute in the Divine plenitude after the apostolic fashion, and I wish her abundant greeting.

2Soube que tendes uma mente irrepreensível e constante na paciência, não por mero costume, mas por natureza, conforme me fez saber Políbio, vosso bispo, que pela vontade de Deus e de Jesus Cristo me visitou em Esmirna; e tanto se regozijou comigo nas minhas cadeias em Cristo Jesus, que nele contemplei toda a vossa multidão.

2I have learned that ye have a mind unblameable and stedfast in patience, not from habit, but by nature, according as Polybius your bishop informed me, who by the will of God and of Jesus Christ visited me in Smyrna; and so greatly did he rejoice with me in my bonds in Christ Jesus, that in him I beheld the whole multitude of you.

3Tendo, pois, recebido das suas mãos a vossa piedosa benevolência, dei glória a Deus, porquanto vos achei imitadores de Deus, assim como havia ouvido.

3Having therefore received your godly benevolence at his hands, I gave glory, forasmuch as I had found you to be imitators of God, even as I had learned.
