Natividade de Maria 4

1Depois disso, ele apareceu a Ana, sua mulher, dizendo: Não temas, Ana, nem penses que é um fantasma o que vês.

1Thereafter he appeared to Anna his wife, saying: Fear not, Anna, nor think that it is a phantom which thou seest.

2Pois eu sou aquele anjo que apresentou as vossas orações e esmolas diante de Deus; e agora fui enviado a ti para anunciar-te que darás à luz uma filha, que será chamada Maria, e que será bendita entre todas as mulheres.

2For I am that angel who has presented your prayers and alms before God; and now have I been sent to you to announce to you that thou shalt bring forth a daughter, who shall be called Mary, and who shall be blessed above all women.

3Ela, cheia da graça do Senhor desde o seu nascimento, permanecerá três anos na casa de seu pai, até ser desmamada.

3She, full of the favour of the Lord even from her birth, shall remain three years in her father’s house until she be weaned.

4Depois disso, entregue ao serviço do Senhor, não se afastará do templo até que alcance a idade da razão.

4Thereafter, being delivered to the service of the Lord, she shall not depart from the temple until she reach the years of discretion.

5Ali, por fim, servindo a Deus dia e noite em jejuns e orações, abster-se-á de toda coisa impura; jamais conhecerá varão, mas, única, sem exemplo prévio, imaculada, incorrupta, sem contato com homem algum, ela, sendo virgem, dará à luz um filho; ela, Sua serva, dará à luz o Senhor — tanto em graça quanto em nome e em obra, o Salvador do mundo.

5There, in fine, serving God day and night in fastings and prayers, she shall abstain from every unclean thing; she shall never know man, but alone, without example, immaculate, uncorrupted, without intercourse with man, she, a virgin, shall bring forth a son; she, His hand-maiden, shall bring forth the Lord—both in grace, and in name, and in work, the Saviour of the world.

6Por isso, levanta-te e sobe a Jerusalém; e quando chegares à porta que, por ser revestida de ouro, é chamada Dourada, ali, por sinal, encontrarás teu marido, por cuja segurança tens estado aflita.

6Wherefore arise, and go up to Jerusalem; and when thou shalt come to the gate which, because it is plated with gold, is called Golden, there, for a sign, thou shalt meet thy husband, for whose safety thou hast been anxious.

7E quando estas coisas assim sucederem, sabe que o que anuncio se cumprirá sem dúvida alguma.

7And when these things shall have so happened, know that what I announce shall without doubt be fulfilled.
