Odes de Salomão 23

1A alegria é dos santos! E quem se revestirá dela senão eles somente?

1Joy is of the saints! And who shall put it on but they alone?

2A graça é dos eleitos! E quem a receberá senão os que nela confiam desde o princípio?

2Grace is of the elect! And who shall receive it but they who trust in it from the beginning?

3O amor é dos eleitos! E quem se revestirá dele, senão os que o possuíram desde o princípio?

3Love is of the elect! And who shall put it on, but those who have possessed it from the beginning?

4Andai no conhecimento do Altíssimo; E conhecereis a graça do Senhor sem mesquinhez; Para a sua exultação e para a perfeição do seu conhecimento.

4Walk ye in the knowledge of the Most High; And ye shall know the grace of the Lord without grudging; To His exultation and to the perfection of His knowledge.

5E o seu pensamento era como uma carta, E a sua vontade desceu do alto;

5And His thought was like a letter, And His will descended from on high;

6E foi enviada como uma flecha Que é violentamente disparada do arco;

6And it was sent like an arrow Which is violently shot from the bow;

7E muitas mãos correram para a carta, Para agarrá-la e tomá-la e lê-la.

7And many hands rushed to the letter, To seize it and to take it and to read it.

8E ela escapou dos seus dedos, E eles se espantaram dela e do selo que estava sobre ela.

8And it escaped from their fingers, And they were affrighted at it and at the seal that was on it.

9Pois não lhes era permitido soltar o selo; Pois o poder que estava sobre o selo era maior que eles.

9For it was not permitted to them to loose the seal; For the power that was over the seal was greater than they.

10Mas os que a viram foram atrás da carta, Para saber onde ela pousaria, E quem a leria, E quem a ouviria.

10But those who saw it went after the letter, That they might know where it would alight, And who should read it, And who should hear it.

11Mas uma roda a recebeu, E (a carta) veio sobre ela;

11But a wheel received it, And (the letter) came over it;

12E havia com ela um sinal Do reino e do governo.

12And there was with it a sign Of the kingdom and of the government.

13E tudo o que movia a roda Ela ceifava e cortava;

13And everything which was moving the wheel It mowed and cut down;

14E destruiu muitas coisas que eram adversas; E lançou ponte sobre os rios:

14And it destroyed many things that were adverse; And it spanned the rivers:

15E atravessou e arrancou muitas florestas, E abriu um caminho largo.

15And crossed over and rooted up many forests, And made a broad path.

16A cabeça desceu aos pés; Pois até os pés correu a roda; E aquilo que viera sobre ela.

16The head went down to the feet; For down to the feet ran the wheel; And that which had come upon it.

17A carta era de recomendação; Pois nela estavam incluídos todos os distritos:

17The letter was one of recommendation; For there were included in it all districts:

18E viu-se à sua frente uma cabeça que foi revelada Ou seja, o Filho da Verdade, do Pai Altíssimo;

18And there was seen at its head, a head which was revealed Even the Son of Truth from the Most High Father;

19E ele herdou e tomou posse de tudo; E o pensamento de muitos foi reduzido a nada, E todos os apóstatas se tornaram ousados e fugiram, E os perseguidores extinguiram-se e foram apagados.

19And he inherited and took possession of everything; And the thought of the many was brought to naught, And all the apostates became bold and fled away, And the persecutors became extinct and were blotted out.

20E a carta tornou-se uma grande tábua, Que foi inteiramente escrita pelo dedo de Deus;

20And the letter became a great tablet, Which was wholly written by the finger of God;

21E o nome do Pai estava sobre ela; E o do Filho e do Espírito Santo, Para reinar para sempre e sempre. Aleluia.

21And the name of the Father was upon it; And of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, To rule for ever and ever. Hallelujah.
