Pastor de Hermas 6

1Quinze dias depois, quando eu tinha jejuado e orado muito ao Senhor, o conhecimento do escrito me foi revelado. Ora, o escrito era este: “A tua descendência, ó Hermas, pecou contra Deus, e blasfemaram contra o Senhor, e na sua grande maldade traíram os seus pais. E passaram por traidores dos seus pais, e com a sua traição não colheram proveito.

1Fifteen days after, when I had fasted and prayed much to the Lord, the knowledge of the writing was revealed to me. Now the writing was to this effect: “Your seed, O Hermas, has sinned against God, and they have blasphemed against the Lord, and in their great wickedness they have betrayed their parents. And they passed as traitors of their parents, and by their treachery did they not reap profit.

2E agora ainda acrescentaram aos seus pecados concupiscências e poluções iníquas, e assim as suas iniquidades se completaram. Mas dá a conhecer estas palavras a todos os teus filhos e à tua mulher, que há de ser tua irmã. Pois ela não refreia a língua, com a qual comete iniquidade; mas, ouvindo estas palavras, dominar-se-á e obterá misericórdia.

2And even now they have added to their sins lusts and iniquitous pollutions, and thus their iniquities have been filled up. But make known these words to all your children, and to your wife, who is to be your sister. For she does not restrain her tongue, with which she commits iniquity; but, on hearing these words, she will control herself, and will obtain mercy.

3Pois depois que lhes tiveres dado a conhecer estas palavras que o meu Senhor me ordenou que te revele, então lhes serão perdoados todos os pecados que cometeram em tempos passados, e o perdão será concedido a todos os santos que pecaram até o dia de hoje, se se arrependerem de todo o coração e afastarem da mente todas as dúvidas. Pois o Senhor jurou pela sua glória, a respeito dos seus eleitos, que, se algum deles pecar depois de um certo dia que foi fixado, não será salvo.

3For after you have made known to them these words which my Lord has commanded me to reveal to you, then shall they be forgiven all the sins which in former times they committed, and forgiveness will be granted to all the saints who have sinned even to the present day, if they repent with all their heart, and drive all doubts from their minds. For the Lord has sworn by His glory, in regard to His elect, that if any one of them sin after a certain day which has been fixed, he shall not be saved.

4Pois o arrependimento dos justos tem limites. Completos estão os dias de arrependimento para todos os santos; mas para os pagãos o arrependimento será possível até o último dia. Dirás, portanto, aos que presidem a igreja que dirijam os seus caminhos na justiça, para que recebam plenamente as promessas com grande glória. Permanecei firmes, portanto, vós que praticais a justiça, e não duvideis, para que a vossa passagem seja com os santos anjos.

4For the repentance of the righteous has limits. Filled up are the days of repentance to all the saints; but to the heathen, repentance will be possible even to the last day. You will tell, therefore, those who preside over the church, to direct their ways in righteousness, that they may receive in full the promises with great glory. Stand stedfast, therefore, ye who work righteousness, and doubt not, that your passage may be with the holy angels.

5Felizes vós que suportais a grande tribulação que vem, e felizes os que não negarem a sua própria vida. Pois o Senhor jurou pelo seu Filho que os que negaram o seu Senhor abandonaram a sua vida em desespero, pois mesmo agora estes o hão de negar nos dias que virão. Para os que negaram em tempos anteriores, Deus foi benigno, por causa da sua excedente e terna misericórdia.”

5Happy ye who endure the great tribulation that is coming on, and happy they who shall not deny their own life. For the Lord hath sworn by His Son, that those who denied their Lord have abandoned their life in despair, for even now these are to deny Him in the days that are coming. To those who denied in earlier times, God became gracious, on account of His exceeding tender mercy.”
