Protoevangelho de Tiago 7

1E os meses da criança foram se somando.

1And her months were added to the child.

2E a criança tinha dois anos, e Joaquim disse: Levemo-la ao templo do Senhor, para que paguemos o voto que fizemos, para que porventura o Senhor não envie a nós e a nossa oferta não seja recebida.

2And the child was two years old, and Joachim said: Let us take her up to the temple of the Lord, that we may pay the vow that we have vowed, lest perchance the Lord send to us, and our offering be not received.

3E Ana disse: Esperemos o terceiro ano, para que a criança não procure pai ou mãe.

3And Anna said: Let us wait for the third year, in order that the child may not seek for father or mother.

4E Joaquim disse: Esperemos, então.

4And Joachim said: So let us wait.

5E a criança tinha três anos, e Joaquim disse: Convidai as filhas dos hebreus que estejam sem mácula, e tome cada uma uma lâmpada, e fiquem com as lâmpadas acesas, para que a criança não volte atrás e o seu coração não seja cativado longe do templo do Senhor.

5And the child was three years old, and Joachim said: Invite the daughters of the Hebrews that are undefiled, and let them take each a lamp, and let them stand with the lamps burning, that the child may not turn back, and her heart be captivated from the temple of the Lord.

6E fizeram assim até que subiram ao templo do Senhor.

6And they did so until they went up into the temple of the Lord.

7E o sacerdote recebeu-a, e beijou-a, e abençoou-a, dizendo: O Senhor engrandeceu o teu nome em todas as gerações.

7And the priest received her, and kissed her, and blessed her, saying: The Lord has magnified thy name in all generations.

8Em ti, no último dos dias, o Senhor manifestará a sua redenção aos filhos de Israel.

8In thee, on the last of the days, the Lord will manifest His redemption to the sons of Israel.

9E fê-la sentar no terceiro degrau do altar, e o Senhor Deus enviou graça sobre ela; e ela dançou com os pés, e toda a casa de Israel a amou.

9And he set her down upon the third step of the altar, and the Lord God sent grace upon her; and she danced with her feet, and all the house of Israel loved her.
