Salmos de Salomão 5

1Ó Senhor Deus, louvarei o teu nome com alegria, No meio dos que conhecem os teus justos juízos.

1O Lord God, I will praise Thy name with joy, In the midst of them that know Thy righteous judgements.

2Pois tu és bom e misericordioso, o refúgio dos pobres; Quando clamo a ti, não me desconsideres em silêncio.

2For Thou art good and merciful, the refuge of the poor; When I cry to Thee, do not silently disregard me.

3Pois ninguém toma despojo de um homem poderoso; Quem, então, pode tomar algo de tudo o que fizeste, a menos que tu mesmo o dês?

3For no man taketh spoil from a mighty man; Who, then, can take aught of all that Thou hast made, except Thou Thyself givest?

4Pois o homem e a sua porção (estão) diante de ti na balança; Ele não pode acrescentar, para aumentar, o que foi prescrito por ti.

4For man and his portion (lie) before Thee in the balance; He cannot add to, so as to enlarge, what has been prescribed by Thee.

5Ó Deus, quando estamos em aflição, clamamos a ti por auxílio, E tu não rejeitas o nosso pedido, pois tu és o nosso Deus.

5O God, when we are in distress we call upon Thee for help, And Thou dost not turn back our petition, for Thou art our God.

6Não faças pesar a tua mão sobre nós, Para que por necessidade não pequemos.

6Cause not Thy hand to be heavy upon us, Lest through necessity we sin.

7Ainda que não nos restaures, não nos afastaremos; Mas a ti viremos.

7Even though Thou restore us not, we will not keep away; But unto Thee will we come.

8Pois se tenho fome, a ti clamarei, ó Deus; E tu me darás.

8For if I hunger, unto Thee will I cry, O God; And Thou wilt give to me.

9Aves e peixes tu sustentas, Dando chuva às estepes para que brote relva verde, Para preparar forragem na estepe para todo ser vivo;

9Birds and fish dost Thou nourish, In that Thou givest rain to the steppes that green grass may spring up, To prepare fodder in the steppe for every living thing;

10E se têm fome, a ti erguem o rosto.

10And if they hunger, unto Thee do they lift up their face.

11Reis e governantes e povos tu sustentas, ó Deus; E quem é o auxílio do pobre e necessitado, senão tu, ó Senhor?

11Kings and rulers and peoples Thou dost nourish, O God; And who is the help of the poor and needy, if not Thou, O Lord?

12E tu atenderás--pois quem é bom e brando senão tu?-- Alegrando a alma dos humildes ao abrir a tua mão em misericórdia.

12And Thou wilt hearken--for who is good and gentle but Thou?-- Making glad the soul of the humble by opening Thine hand in mercy.

13A bondade do homem é (concedida) de má vontade e . . .; E se a repete sem murmurar, mesmo isso é maravilhoso.

13Man's goodness is (bestowed) grudgingly and . . .; And if he repeat (it) without murmuring, even that is marvellous.

14Mas o teu dom é grande em bondade e riqueza, E aquele cuja esperança está (posta) em ti não terá falta de dons.

14But Thy gift is great in goodness and wealth, And he whose hope is (set) on Thee shall have no lack of gifts.

15Sobre toda a terra está a tua misericórdia, ó Senhor, em bondade.

15Upon the whole earth is Thy mercy, O Lord, in goodness.

16Feliz é aquele de quem Deus se lembra (concedendo-lhe) a suficiência devida; Se um homem abunda em excesso, peca.

16Happy is he whom God remembereth in (granting to him) a due sufficiency; If a man abound overmuch, he sinneth.

17Suficientes são meios moderados com justiça, E assim a bênção do Senhor (torna-se) abundância com justiça.

17Sufficient are moderate means with righteousness, And hereby the blessing of the Lord (becomes) abundance with righteousness.

18Os que temem ao Senhor se alegram em (dons) bons, E a tua bondade está sobre Israel no teu reino. Bendita seja a glória do Senhor, pois ele é o nosso rei.

18They that fear the Lord rejoice in good (gifts), And Thy goodness is upon Israel in Thy kingdom. Blessed is the glory of the Lord, for He is our king.
