Testamento de Isaque 1

1Aconteceu que, quando se aproximaram os dias em que Nosso Pai Isaque, o Pai dos Pais, havia de partir deste mundo e sair deste corpo, o Compassivo, o Misericordioso enviou-lhe o chefe dos anjos, Miguel, a quem enviara a seu pai Abraão, na manhã do vigésimo oitavo dia do mês de Misri.

1It came to pass when the days of our Father Isaac the Father of the Fathers drew nigh that he should depart from this world and go forth from this body, the Compassionate, the Merciful sent to him the chief of the angels, Michael, whom He had sent to his Father Abraham, on the morning of the eight and twentieth day of the month Misri.

2Disse-lhe: “A paz seja contigo, ó Filho Eleito!” Então chegou ao fiel ancião, Nosso Pai Isaque (pois os santos anjos costumavam conversar com ele todos os dias). E ele caiu sobre o seu rosto e viu que era semelhante a seu pai Abraão; e abriu a boca, e clamou em alta voz, e disse com exultação e louvor: Em verdade vejo o teu rosto como se visse o rosto do Criador, o Misericordioso.

2He said to him “Peace be unto thee, O Elect Son!” Then he came to the faithful old man our Father Isaac, (for the Holy Angels used to converse with him every day.) And he fell on his face and saw that he was like his Father Abraham, and he opened his mouth and cried with a loud voice and said with exultation and praise, Verily I see thy face as if I saw the face of the Creator the Merciful.

3Então o Anjo lhe disse: Ó meu amigo Isaque, fui enviado a ti da presença de Deus, o Vivente, para te levar ao céu, a fim de estares com teu pai Abraão e com todos os santos, porque teu pai Abraão te espera, e ele veio a ti, e preparou para ti o trono junto de teu pai Abraão, para ti e para teu amado filho Jacó; e estareis acima de todos no Reino dos céus, na glória do Pai, e do Filho, e do Espírito Santo; e sereis chamados por este nome por todas as gerações futuras: “Os Pais”; e sereis pais para todo o mundo, ó fiel ancião, Nosso Pai Isaque.

3Then said the Angel to him, O my friend Isaac, I have been sent to thee from the presence of God the Living One, that I may take thee up to heaven to be with thy Father Abraham and all the saints, because thy Father Abraham expecteth thee, and he hath come to thee, and he hath prepared for thee the throne with thy Father Abraham, even for thee and thy beloved son Jacob, and ye shall be above every one in the Kingdom of the heavens in the glory of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and ye shall be called by this name to all future generations, “The Fathers;” and ye shall be Fathers to all the world, O faithful old man our Father Isaac.

4Ele respondeu, dizendo ao Anjo: Em verdade me maravilho de ti; não és tu o meu pai Abraão?

4He answered saying to the Angel, Verily I marvel because of thee; art thou not my Father Abraham?

5E o Anjo lhe disse: Não sou o teu pai Abraão, mas sou eu quem serve a teu pai Abraão.

5And the Angel said to him, I am not thy Father Abraham, but it is I who minister to thy Father Abraham.

6E agora alegra-te, e faze resplandecer o teu rosto, e não te atemorizes, porque não serás levado com dor, mas com alegria, e alcançarás o deleite e o descanso para sempre, e sairás da angústia para a amplidão, e partirás para a alegria que não tem fim, e para a luz e o gozo sem limite, e para o louvor e a exultação que não cessam.

6And now rejoice and let thy face shine and be not dismayed, for thou shalt not be taken with pain, but with gladness, and thou shalt attain to delight and rest for ever, and thou shalt go forth from straitness into enlargement, and thou shalt depart to the joy that has no ending, and to the light and the joy without bound, and to the praise and exultation that cease not.

7E agora faze o teu testamento e põe em ordem a tua casa, pois vais para o descanso; e, além disso, bendito seja o teu pai que te gerou, e bendita a tua semente que vem depois de ti.

7And now make thy testament and set in order thy house, for thou goest to rest; and withal blessed be thy father who begat thee, and blessed thy seed which cometh after thee.

8E quando Nosso Pai Jacó os ouviu conversar assim um com o outro, começou a esconder-se deles, sem dizer palavra.

8And when our Father Jacob heard them conversing in this colloquy one with another, he began to conceal himself from them without speaking.

9E Nosso Pai Isaque disse ao Anjo, com paciência e submissão: Que farei neste dia da luz dos meus olhos, Jacó, meu amado?

9And our Father Isaac said to the Angel with patience and submission, What shall I do this day with the light of my eye, Jacob my beloved?

10Temo por ele por causa de Esaú, e tu sabes tudo.

10I fear for him because of Esau, and thou knowest all.

11E o Anjo lhe disse: Ó meu amado Isaque, todos os povos que há no mundo, se se ajuntassem num só lugar, não poderiam anular a tua bênção sobre Jacó, porque, no momento em que o abençoaste, Aquele que tudo sustém, e o Filho, e o Espírito Santo, e teu pai Abraão responderam todos, dizendo: Amém.

11And the Angel said unto him, O my beloved Isaac, all the peoples which are in the world, if they were gathered together to one place, would not be able to cancel thy blessing upon Jacob, because at the time when thou didst bless him, He Who holds all and the Son and the Holy Spirit and thy Father Abraham all answered saying, Amen.

12O seu vizinho não prevalecerá contra ele, mas ele será sobremaneira forte e exercerá senhorio.

12His neighbour shall not prevail against him, but he shall be exceeding strong and shall exercise lordship.

13E ele será pai de muitos povos, e doze tribos procederão dele.

13And he shall be father of many peoples, and twelve tribes shall proceed from him.

14E Isaque disse ao Anjo: Em verdade me ensinaste e me deste conhecimento de boas-novas; contudo, que Jacó não o ouça, pois se entristecerá e se atemorizará, e eu, em verdade, nunca, nem uma vez, afligi o seu coração.

14And Isaac said to the Angel, Verily thou hast taught me and given me knowledge of good tidings; nevertheless let not Jacob hear, for he will be grieved and dismayed, and I verily have never once grieved his heart..

15E o Anjo do Senhor disse: Ó meu amigo Isaque, bem-aventurados todos os justos que partem dos seus corpos; bem-aventurados são eles quando veem a Deus, o Compassivo, o Misericordioso.

15And the Angel of the Lord said, O my friend Isaac, blessed are all the righteous who depart from their bodies, blessed are they when they see God the Compassionate, the Merciful.

16Ai, ai, por três vezes, do pecador quando gera filhos sobre a terra, pois em verdade para ele há muitas dores.

16Woe, woe, three times to the sinner when he begetteth children upon the earth, for verily for him are many sorrows.

17Ensinarás a teus filhos os teus caminhos e todos os preceitos de teu pai, que ele te ordenou (e não temas de modo algum por Jacó), para que sejam um memorial para as gerações futuras, a fim de que os fiéis os cumpram e por eles alcancem a vida que permanece, que é eterna.

17Thou shalt teach thy sons thy ways and all the precepts of thy father which he commanded thee (and fear not at all for Jacob) that they may be a memorial for future generations afterwards, that the faithful may do them and attain by them to the life that endureth, that is eternal.

18Contudo, observarei a tua ordem.

18Nevertheless I will observe thy injunction.

19E em verdade venho a ti com alegria, depressa.

19And verily I come to thee with joy, speedily.

20A paz que o Senhor me deu, eu ta dou, e vou depressa Àquele que me enviou.

20The peace which the Lord hath given me I give to thee and go quickly to Him that sent me.
