Tobias 12

1Então Tobit chamou seu filho Tobias e lhe disse: Meu filho, vê que o homem que foi contigo receba o seu salário, e deves dar-lhe mais.

1Then Tobit called his son Tobias, and said unto him, My son, see that the man have his wages, which went with thee, and thou must give him more.

2E Tobias lhe disse: Ó pai, não me custa dar-lhe a metade das coisas que trouxe;

2And Tobias said unto him, O father, it is no harm to me to give him half of those things which I have brought:

3pois ele me trouxe de volta a ti são e salvo, e curou minha mulher, e me trouxe o dinheiro, e também te curou.

3For he hath brought me again to thee in safety, and made whole my wife, and brought me the money, and likewise healed thee.

4Então o ancião disse: Isso lhe é devido.

4Then the old man said, It is due unto him.

5Então chamou o anjo e lhe disse: Toma a metade de tudo o que trouxestes, e vai em paz.

5So he called the angel, and he said unto him, Take half of all that ye have brought and go away in safety.

6Então ele os chamou a ambos à parte e lhes disse: Bendizei a Deus, louvai-o e engrandecei-o, e louvai-o pelas coisas que ele fez convosco diante de todos os viventes. É bom louvar a Deus e exaltar o seu nome, e anunciar com honra as obras de Deus; portanto, não sejais negligentes em louvá-lo.

6Then he took them both apart, and said unto them, Bless God, praise him, and magnify him, and praise him for the things which he hath done unto you in the sight of all that live. It is good to praise God, and exalt his name, and honourably to shew forth the works of God; therefore be not slack to praise him.

7É bom guardar o segredo do rei, mas é honroso revelar as obras de Deus. Fazei o bem, e nenhum mal vos tocará.

7It is good to keep close the secret of a king, but it is honourable to reveal the works of God. Do that which is good, and no evil shall touch you.

8Boa é a oração com o jejum, a esmola e a justiça. Mais vale o pouco com justiça do que o muito com injustiça. É melhor dar esmola do que entesourar ouro;

8Prayer is good with fasting and alms and righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than much with unrighteousness. It is better to give alms than to lay up gold:

9pois a esmola livra da morte e purifica todo pecado. Os que praticam a esmola e a justiça serão saciados de vida;

9For alms doth deliver from death, and shall purge away all sin. Those that exercise alms and righteousness shall be filled with life:

10mas os que pecam são inimigos da sua própria vida.

10But they that sin are enemies to their own life.

11Certamente nada vos ocultarei. Pois eu disse que era bom guardar o segredo do rei, mas que era honroso revelar as obras de Deus.

11Surely I will keep close nothing from you. For I said, It was good to keep close the secret of a king, but that it was honourable to reveal the works of God.

12Agora, pois, quando oravas, tu e Sara, tua nora, eu apresentava a lembrança das vossas orações diante do Santo; e, quando sepultavas os mortos, eu também estava contigo.

12Now therefore, when thou didst pray, and Sara thy daughter in law, I did bring the remembrance of your prayers before the Holy One: and when thou didst bury the dead, I was with thee likewise.

13E, quando não tardaste em levantar-te e deixar o teu jantar para ir cobrir o morto, a tua boa obra não me ficou oculta; mas eu estava contigo.

13And when thou didst not delay to rise up, and leave thy dinner, to go and cover the dead, thy good deed was not hid from me: but I was with thee.

14E agora Deus me enviou para curar a ti e a Sara, tua nora.

14And now God hath sent me to heal thee and Sara thy daughter in law.

15Eu sou Rafael, um dos sete santos anjos que apresentam as orações dos santos e que entram e saem diante da glória do Santo.

15I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels, which present the prayers of the saints, and which go in and out before the glory of the Holy One.

16Então ambos ficaram perturbados e caíram com o rosto em terra, porque tiveram medo.

16Then they were both troubled, and fell upon their faces: for they feared.

17Mas ele lhes disse: Não temais, porque tudo vos irá bem; louvai, pois, a Deus.

17But he said unto them, Fear not, for it shall go well with you; praise God therefore.

18Pois não vim por favor meu, mas pela vontade do nosso Deus; portanto, louvai-o para sempre.

18For not of any favour of mine, but by the will of our God I came; wherefore praise him for ever.

19Todos estes dias eu vos aparecia; mas não comia nem bebia; vós víeis uma visão.

19All these days I did appear unto you; but I did neither eat nor drink, but ye did see a vision.

20Agora, pois, dai graças a Deus; pois subo para aquele que me enviou; mas escrevei num livro todas as coisas que aconteceram.

20Now therefore give God thanks: for I go up to him that sent me; but write all things which are done in a book.

21E, quando se levantaram, não o viram mais.

21And when they arose, they saw him no more.

22Então confessaram as grandes e maravilhosas obras de Deus, e como o anjo do Senhor lhes aparecera.

22Then they confessed the great and wonderful works of God, and how the angel of the Lord had appeared unto them.
