Evangelho da Infância de Tomé 2

1Este menino Jesus, quando tinha cinco anos, estava brincando no vau de um riacho de montanha; e reuniu em poças as águas correntes, e imediatamente as tornou claras, e só com uma palavra fez que lhe obedecessem.

1This child Jesus, when five years old, was playing in the ford of a mountain stream; and He collected the flowing waters into pools, and made them clear immediately, and by a word alone He made them obey Him.

2E, tendo feito um pouco de barro mole, modelou dele doze pardais.

2And having made some soft clay, He fashioned out of it twelve sparrows.

3E era sábado quando fez essas coisas.

3And it was the Sabbath when He did these things.

4E havia também muitas outras crianças brincando com ele.

4And there were also many other children playing with Him.

5E certo judeu, vendo o que Jesus fazia, brincando no sábado, foi-se logo e disse a seu pai José: Eis que teu filho está junto ao riacho, e tomou barro, e fez dele doze pássaros, e profanou o sábado.

5And a certain Jew, seeing what Jesus was doing, playing on the Sabbath, went off immediately, and said to his father Joseph: Behold, thy son is at the stream, and has taken clay, and made of it twelve birds, and has profaned the Sabbath.

6E José, chegando ao lugar e vendo, gritou-lhe, dizendo: Por que fazes no sábado o que não é lícito fazer?

6And Joseph, coming to the place and seeing, cried out to Him, saying: Wherefore doest thou on the Sabbath what it is not lawful to do?

7E Jesus bateu as mãos, e gritou aos pardais, e disse-lhes: Ide embora!

7And Jesus clapped His hands, and cried out to the sparrows, and said to them: Off you go!

8E os pardais voaram e foram-se gritando.

8And the sparrows flew, and went off crying.

9E os judeus, vendo isso, ficaram maravilhados, e foram-se e contaram aos seus chefes o que tinham visto Jesus fazer.

9And the Jews seeing this were amazed, and went away and reported to their chief men what they had seen Jesus doing.
