Vidas dos Profetas 3

1Joade, o profeta, nasceu em Samaria; este é aquele a quem o leão feriu no caminho, e morreu, porque repreendeu Jeroboão por causa das suas novilhas de ouro, que ele fizera, quando também amaldiçoou o sacrifício de Jeroboão.

1Joad the prophet was born in Samaria; this is he whom the lion struck on the road, and he died, because he rebuked Jeroboam for his golden heifers, which he had made, when also he cursed the sacrifice of Jeroboam.

2E estendeu a mão para lhe fazer mal, e a mão de Jeroboão secou.

2And he stretched out his hand to do him harm, and the hand of Jeroboam withered.

3E depois destas coisas foi enganado pelo falso profeta e foi forçado a comer pão e beber água.

3And after these things he was deceived by the false prophet, and was compelled to eat bread and drink water.

4E ao sair, o leão o feriu, e não fez mal ao seu jumento.

4And as he went out, the lion struck him, and did not harm his ass.

5E foi sepultado em Betel, perto do falso profeta.

5And he was buried in Bethel, near the false prophet.

6E depois, o falso profeta, ao morrer, fez os sacerdotes jurarem, quando o sepultassem com Joade, o profeta, dizendo: “Porque o enganei, e na ressurreição exigiremos justiça.”

6And afterward the false prophet, as he lay dying, made the priests swear, when they should bury him with Joad the prophet, saying: "Because I deceived him, and at the resurrection we shall exact justice."

7E ambos jazem num só sepulcro.

7And both lie in one tomb.
