The word of the Lord came unto me thus: Son of man, say unto this people: 'Why do ye heap sin upon sin and provoke God the Lord, who created you?'
'Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world; for the glory of the world belongs to the devil, together with its dissolution.'
'Remember that the Lord of glory, who created all things, hath compassion upon you, that He may deliver us from the captivity of this age.'
'For often the devil desired that the sun should not rise over the earth and that the earth should yield no fruit, wishing to devour men as a flame, going about with a roar, wishing to devour them as a lion.'
'Therefore the God of glory hath had compassion upon us and sent His Son into the world, that He might deliver us from captivity; He made it known to no angel when He came unto us, nor to any archangel or any power, but He transformed Himself into a man when He came unto us, that He might deliver us ...'
'Therefore be His children, since He is your Father; remember that He hath prepared thrones and crowns for you in heaven, (with the words): "All who shall hearken unto Me shall receive the thrones and the crowns."'
The Lord saith: 'Upon Mine own will I write My name on their foreheads and seal their right hands; they shall neither hunger nor thirst, nor shall the son of lawlessness have power over them, nor shall the thrones hinder them, but they shall go with the angels even unto My city.'
'But the sinners, on the other hand, shall fall into consternation; they shall not pass by the thrones, but the thrones shall seize them and become their masters ... because the angels are not in accord with them, (and) they have estranged themselves from His dwelling places.'
Hear, ye men of understanding of the earth, concerning the false teachers who shall be many at the end of the times: they shall give them teachings that are not of God, abolishing the law of God, they who have made night into day, saying: 'Fasting doth not exist, neither hath God created it,' estranging themselves from the covenant and depriving themselves of the glorious promises.
But these abide for all time in the steadfast faith.
Therefore let not those men lead you astray, and remember that the Lord created fasting, He who created the heavens, for the good of men because of the passions and desires that war against you, that the Evil One may not ...; but a pure fast have I created, saith the Lord; he who fasteth at all times shall not sin when envy and strife are within him.
Let the pure man fast; but he who fasteth without being pure provoketh the Lord and the angels also, and bringeth pain upon his soul, laying up wrath for himself against the day of wrath.
But a pure fast have I created, with a pure heart and pure hands; it forgiveth sins and healeth diseases, it casteth out spirits and hath power even unto the throne of God; ... sins shall be forgiven through a pure prayer.
Which of you will go forth into the field, though he be renowned in his craft, without having a tool with him, or who will go forth to battle to fight without putting on a breastplate?
Will they not slay him when they find him, because he hath neglected the service of the king?
Likewise no man who doubteth in his heart may go unto the holy place.
He who doubteth [in] his prayer is an enemy unto himself, and the angels also are not in accord with him.
Therefore be of one heart at all times in the Lord, that ye may know all things.
Now concerning the kings of the Assyrians and the dissolution of heaven and earth and of the world beneath, they shall not now be overcome, saith the Lord, neither shall they fear in war.
When they [see a king] arise in the north, [they shall call him the king of the Assyrians and] the king of transgression; [he shall bring many] wars and tumults upon Egypt.
The land shall groan at once, because your children shall be taken captive.
Many in those days shall desire death, but death shall flee from them.
And a king shall also arise in the western regions, whom they shall call the king of peace; he shall walk upon the sea like a roaring lion, he shall slay the king of transgression and take vengeance upon Egypt in wars and much bloodshed.
In those days it shall come to pass that he shall command p[eace] from Egy[pt] onward and a [vain] gift; [he shall] give peace unto these h[oly ones, saying: 'One is the name of God.' He shall] give honours unto the holy ones [and] restoration of the holy places; he shall give vain gifts unto the house of God and turn away cunningly from the cities of Egypt without their knowing it; he shall number the holy places and weigh the idols of the heathen, he shall number their treasures and appoint the priests; he shall command that the wise men of the land and the great ones of the people be seized and brought unto the capital by the sea, saying: ...
(A gap.)
Sons through plunder.
The cities of Egypt shall groan in those days, for the voice of seller and buyer shall not be heard.
The markets of the cities of Egypt shall be covered with dust; the inhabitants of Egypt shall weep at once and desire death.
But death (shall) flee and leave them.
In those days they shall hasten unto the rocks and leap down, saying: 'Fall upon us,' and yet they shall not die.
Manifold tribulation shall increase throughout the whole earth in those days; the king shall command that all nursing women be seized and brought bound unto him, that they may suckle the dragons, that these may draw the blood from their breasts and hand them over to the fiery ...
As for the distress of the cities, he shall further command that all children from twelve years of age downward be seized and handed over to the ... to spew forth flames.
The midwife in the land shall mourn; she who hath given birth shall lift up her eyes unto heaven, saying: 'Why do I sit here to bring children into the world?'
But the barren woman and the virgin shall rejoice, saying: 'Now is the time for us to rejoice, for we have no children on earth, but our children are in the heavens.'
In those days three kings shall arise among the Persians, take captive the Jews who are in Egypt, bring them unto Jerusalem, settle it, and dwell there.
When ye then hear that there is discord in Jerusalem, (then) rend your garments, ye priests of the land, for the son of perdition shall soon come.
In those days the lawless one shall appear in the holy places.
The kings of the Persians shall flee in [those] days, to (go to) ... with the kings of the Assyrians.
Four kings shall fight with three; they shall spend three years in that place until they carry away the treasure of the temple which is in that place.
In those days blood shall flow from Kôs unto Memphis; the river of Egypt shall become blood, so that men cannot drink from it for three days.
Woe unto Egypt and unto those who dwell therein!
In those days a king shall arise in the city that is called 'the City of the Sun,' and the whole land shall be dismayed [and] flee up unto Memphis.
In the sixth year the kings of the Persians shall practise a stratagem in Memphis and slay the king of the Assyrians; the Persians shall take vengeance upon the land and command that all heathen and ungodly men be slain; they shall command the holy temples to be built up and give double gifts unto the house of God, saying: 'One is the name of God.'
The whole land shall worship the Persians.
The others also, who have not died under the blows, shall say: 'A righteous king hath the Lord sent unto us, that the land may not become desolate.'
He shall command that nothing be given unto the king for three years and six months.
The land shall be filled with goods in great prosperity.
The living shall go to meet the dead, saying: 'Arise and share with us this rest!'
In the fourth year of that king the son of lawlessness shall appear, saying: 'I am the Anointed One,' although he is not.
Put not your trust in him!
When the Anointed One cometh, He cometh in the likeness of a dove, a crown of doves surrounding Him, hovering upon the clouds of heaven, and the sign of the cross going before Him, while the whole world shall see Him like the sun that shineth from the regions of its rising unto the regions of its setting.
Thus He cometh, with all His angels surrounding Him.
The son of lawlessness shall also try to establish himself in the holy places and shall say unto the sun: 'Fall,' and it shall fall; he shall say: 'Shine,' and it shall do so; he shall say: 'Become dark,' and it shall do so; he shall say unto the moon: 'Become bloody,' and it shall do so; he shall disappear with them from heaven and walk upon the sea and the rivers as upon dry ground; he shall make the lame walk, the deaf hear, the dumb speak, and the blind see; he shall cleanse lepers and heal the sick; those who are possessed by spirits, (from them) he shall cast them out; he shall perform many wonders and signs before every man and do the works which the Anointed One hath done, save only the raising of the dead.
By this shall ye know him to be the son of lawlessness, because he hath no power over the soul.
For I will tell you his marks, that ye may know him: 'He is short ..., young, thin-legged, on the front of his head is a patch of white hair, ..., his eyebrows reach unto his ears, (and) leprous scabs are on the fronts of his hands; he shall change himself before those who behold him, he shall become young and old and change all his marks.'
'Only the marks of his head shall not be able to change.'
'By this shall ye know him to be the son of lawlessness.'
Now the virgin named Tabitha shall hear that the Shameless One hath appeared in the holy places; she shall wrap herself in her garment of fine linen and follow him up into Judea, reviling him as far as Jerusalem: 'O Shameless One, O son of lawlessness, O thou who art at enmity with all the holy ones!'
Then the Shameless One shall be wroth with the virgin and pursue her unto the regions of sunset; he shall drink her blood at evening and pour it upon the temple, and it shall become salvation for the people.
She shall rise at morning and live (again) and accuse him, saying: 'Shameless One, thou hast no power over my soul nor over my body; for I live in the Lord at all times.'
'Thou didst also pour my blood upon the temple, and it became salvation for the people.'
When Elijah and Enoch hear that the Shameless One hath appeared in the holy place, they shall come down and fight with him, saying: 'Art thou not ashamed to thrust thyself among the holy ones, seeing that thou art (indeed) a stranger unto them at all times; thou wast at enmity with those in heaven and those on earth; thou wast at enmity with the thrones and the angels; thou art a stranger at all times; thou didst fall from heaven like the stars in the morning; thou wast changed and matter became hostile unto thee; art thou then not ashamed to thrust thyself upon God, although thou art a devil?'
The Shameless One shall hear (it) and become wroth and fight with them in the market place of the great city, and fight with them for seven days; and they shall lie dead in the market place for three and a half days, while all the people behold them.
But on the fourth day they shall rise and revile him, saying: 'O Shameless One, O son of lawlessness, art thou not ashamed to deceive the people of God, for whom thou hast not suffered?'
'Knowest thou not that we live in the Lord ...?'
'We shall lay aside the flesh of the spirit and slay thee, without thy being able to speak on that day; for we are strong at all times in the Lord, but thou art at enmity with God at all times.'
The Shameless One shall hear it and become wroth and fight against them, and the whole city shall stand round about them.
On that day they shall shout for joy unto heaven, shining, while all the people and the whole world behold them.
But the son of lawlessness shall not overcome them; he shall be wroth with the land and seek to bring sin upon the people; he shall pursue all the holy ones, and they shall be led away bound with the priests of the land; he shall kill them and they ...; men shall put out their eyes with iron points, he shall strip the skin from their heads and tear out their nails one by one; he shall command that vinegar and lye be put into their noses.
But those who could not endure the torments of that king shall carry away (their) gold and flee on rafts into desert regions, and fall asleep as one who slumbereth.
The Lord shall take their spirits and their souls unto Himself; their flesh shall become stone, and no beast shall eat it until the last day of the great judgment; and they shall rise and find a resting place; but they shall not be in the kingdom of the Anointed One as those who endured, for the Lord saith: 'I will permit them to sit at My right hand'; they shall be granted grace before others, they shall overcome the son of lawlessness, see the dissolution of heaven and earth, and receive the thrones of glory and the crowns.
Sixty righteous men, who are prepared for this hour, shall be chosen; they shall arm themselves with the breastplate of God, hasten unto Jerusalem, and fight with the Shameless One, saying: 'All the mighty works which the prophets did of old thou hast done, (but) thou couldst not raise the dead, because thou hast no power over the soul.'
'By this we have known that thou art the son of lawlessness.'
He shall hear (it) and become wroth and command that altars be kindled, that the righteous be bound, laid upon them, and burned.
And on that day the hearts of many shall harden against him, and they shall flee from him, saying: 'This is not the Anointed One; the Anointed One doth not kill the righteous, nor doth He pursue men, seeking (them), but He persuadeth them by signs and wonders.'
In those days the Anointed One shall have compassion upon His own and send from heaven His angels, who are sixty-four thousand, each having six wings.
Their voice shall shake heaven and earth when they praise and glorify.
But those upon whose foreheads the name of the Anointed One is written, and upon whose hands the seal (is found), the small and the great, they shall take upon their wings and carry away from His wrath.
Then Gabriel and Uriel shall form a pillar of light and go before them until they bring them unto the holy place, and command them to eat of the tree of life and wear the white garment, and command that the angels guard them; they shall neither hunger nor thirst, nor shall the son of lawlessness be able to seize them.
Now on that day the earth shall quake, the sun shall be darkened, and peace and the spirit shall be brought upon earth; the trees shall be uprooted and fall, the wild beasts and the beasts of burden shall die in consternation; the birds shall fall dead upon the earth, the earth shall dry up and the waters of the sea shall cease; the sinners shall groan upon earth, saying: 'What hast thou done unto us, thou son of lawlessness, that thou saidst: "I am the Anointed One," though thou art the son of lawlessness?'
'It is not possible for thee to save thyself, much less shalt thou save us.'
'Thou didst work vain wonders before us until thou hadst estranged us from the Anointed One, who created us.'
'Woe unto us that we obeyed thee!'
'Behold, we shall now be filled with famine and distress.'
'Where now is the trace of a righteous man, that we may worship (him), or where is he who instructeth us, that we may call upon him?'
'Now shall we perish through wrath, because we were disobedient unto God.'
We went unto the deep places in the sea and found no water; we dug by the rivers sixteen cubits deep and found no water.
Then the Shameless One wept on that day, saying: 'Woe is me, for my time hath passed from me; I said that my time would not pass from me; (now) my years have become months, and my days have flown away like fleeting motes.'
'Now shall I perish with you.'
'Now flee into the wilderness, seize the robbers and slay them!'
'Bring hither the holy ones; for for their sake the earth beareth fruit, for their sake the sun shineth over the earth, for their sake the dew cometh upon the earth.'
The sinners shall weep, saying: 'Thou hast estranged us from God; if thou canst, arise and pursue them!'
Then he shall take his fiery wings and fly after the holy ones.
He shall fight with them again.
[The] angels shall hear it and come down and fight with him, fighting with many swords.
On that day it shall come to pass (that) the Lord shall hear (it) and in great wrath command heaven and earth: they shall spew forth fire, and the flame shall reach seventy-two cubits upon earth and devour sinners and devils like a stalk.
A righteous judgment shall take place on that day; the mountains of the earth shall utter their voice on [that] day.
The wicked shall speak with one another: 'Heard ye today the voice (of a) walking man who came not unto the judgment of the Son of God?'
The sins of each man shall rise against him in the place where they were committed, whether by day or by night.
But those who belong to the righteous and the ... shall see the sinners in their punishments, together with those who pursued them and those who delivered them over to death.
Then the sinners, for their part, shall see the place of the righteous, and thus grace shall be granted.
In those days that for which the [righteous] shall often pray shall be given unto them.
On that day the Lord shall judge heaven and earth; He shall judge those who have transgressed in heaven and upon earth; He shall judge the shepherds of the people and ask them concerning the flock of sheep, and they shall be delivered unto Him without any deceit of death upon them.
Then Elijah and Enoch shall come down; they shall lay aside the flesh of this world and take on their spiritual flesh; they shall pursue the son of lawlessness and slay him, without his being able to speak.
On that day he shall dissolve before them like ice dissolved by fire; he shall be destroyed like a dragon in whom there is no breath; they shall say unto him: 'Thy time hath passed from thee; now shalt thou be destroyed with those who believed in thee; they shall be cast into the depth of the abyss, and it shall be filled in over them.'
On that day the Anointed One, the King, shall come from heaven with all the holy ones; He shall burn the earth and spend a thousand years upon it; because the sinners ruled upon it, He shall create a new heaven and a new earth in which there is no devil; He shall reign with the holy ones, ascending and descending, while they are with the angels at all times (and) with the Anointed One for a thousand years.
